I made my way to the living room hoping to calm my nerves. Sitting alone in the house with nothing to do makes me stir-crazy. There was no distraction to ease my unresolved guilt and nervousness. My nails began to subconsciously pick at the edge of the book spin in my hand. I have been re-reading the same chapter for what feels like forever. My eyes and brain just won't seem to be corporate today. I know I am reading the words of the book but nothing is translated back-that's frustrating to say the least.

I stood up, getting nearer to the book spot but not touching it. I read the text in the book. "You're Locked." it says. I don't know if I should roll my eyes to it's obviousness but yeah, I am locked here undeniably sticker and I knew it already. The book turn to another page again and stops. " And you're looking for something to solve so you can get out of here." My knees are shaking and my eyes widened. How did it know I'm thinking it? It turns to other pages again which seems like it's answering my thoughts and it's terrifying.

At Lorenzo beside her with his too-strong coffee looking at the estate he had built and was now rebuilding into something different. She thought about her father saying the most dangerous men were the ones who were also good. She thought about her mother saying he looks at you the way your father looked at me in the beginning. She thought about sixty-one chapters of the most complicated and costly and clarifying thing she had ever done. She looked at the book. At the faded blue cover. At the bookmark in the same place so long it had left a mark. She thought about marks left by things. About what persisted. She closed the book.

I was trying my best to read a book but my mind kept going back to Nathan's words kept coming back to me. Jaylen was dangerous. That was what he said. But regardless of the fact that I hated Nathan and I would never listen to a thing he said…I had my suspicions about Jaylen mingling with some dangerous people. I thought of burning the book for it I should burn it, I wouldn't be troubling myself any longer and the black Cults won't be able to come to me anymore. I also thought that there would be penalty in doing that, for the book does not belong to me, it from my school library. Instead of burning it, I would rather return the book. But returning the book will not be good for me as I will continue to think about reading the book in as much I know the book still lives. I think and connected to the book. The connection makes me not to be able to do without reading it. Wait a minute, am I connected to the book or the what is inside the book. What is wrong with me? I shouted out speaking to myself.

Third attempt at chapter four.* She thought about this. *Is chapter four the problem, or is Felix the problem?* *Felix recommended it sincerely. Chapter four is dense. I am persisting.* *Persist through chapter four,* she typed. *It gets better.* A pause. *You've read it?* *Two years ago. Different edition, probably. Same chapter four.*

Why is the book all chained? Is the information too precious? But my attribute is ice, and will the book freeze if I use it? I frowned and felt helpless. This is all so new to me, and it was too sudden. The moment I arrived in this sacred land, all I did was read books nonstop. As much as I love reading, I couldn't possibly absorb all the knowledge in the books all at once. This is too much! My brain might explode if this continues. But I was curious about what was written in this book. They all seem extraordinary and mysterious.

Thinking maybe it was his overactive imagination, he forced himself to focus on the book once more. But still, he found that he couldn't focus on the book, that feeling was still there, the feeling of being watched, as if something or someone might just attack him out of nowhere. The words on the page blurred before his eyes, the once captivating narrative now overshadowed by the lingering sensation of an unseen presence. The room grew heavy with a cruel silence, broken only by the occasional sound the pages made as Liam turned them. He tried to shake off the unsettling feeling and focus on the book, but it was stuck, to him.
