BREE’S POV Finally she was gone. Dead, out of this world, never to return again to ruin things for me. For four years, I had watched as Anika stole Simon from me. I had a crush on him first, he was supposed to marry me, but Anika just had to swoop in before I had the chance and play that stupid fucking pity card in order to get him marry her instead. That was not such a bad thing though, because for years I made her suffer through the karma of stealing what was not meant to be hers.

He tossed the note aside and held the vial up to the light. “You know,” he mused, “this is almost insulting. All this effort for something so... ordinary. Let’s just end this nonsense.” He raised the vial, preparing to crush it in his hand. “Stop!” Luke shouted, his voice raw with desperation. Akin paused, lowering the vial slightly as he studied Luke. A slow smile spread across his face. “You want it?” he asked, his tone mocking. “Fine. You can have it.” Before anyone could react, Akin dashed forward with inhuman speed, grabbing Luke by the arm and plunging the serum into his neck. Luke cried out in pain, collapsing to his knees as the serum coursed through his veins.

**ANNABEL'S POV** I peep out of Alpha Akin's room before stepping out into the hallway after having arranged my hair and clothes in front of the golden mirror in his room. I feel like I look plausible as I make my way to the room that I share with Luke, eager to have him f**k the disdain and self-loathing I feel out of me.

Blue Sitting in silence, I watch Quinn as he takes another swig of his drink. He chatters to himself about how he had won. How I had come willingly. I say nothing. I wanted him to believe that he had won. Anika was quiet too, watching his every move. She could come out and just kill him. She knew that and I knew that. Instead, we just watched. He spins around. His golden eyes settling on me. “They still haven’t come for you.”

[Fallon’s POV] My body burns. Groaning, I attempt to move, but stop as something stabs into my wrists and ankles, keeping me from actually going anywhere. Eyes flying open, I stare up at a billowy red canopy attached to four golden posts that hold up a large, luxurious bed. "What the hell?" I hiss, blinking a few times to clear my slightly blurred vision. "Where…" ‘Mateo,’ Anika’s voice whispers in my mind. ‘We are back with Mateo.’

my father complained. “I’ll be there in fifteen minutes.” I disconnected the call. With a shaking breath, I started the car. Alana was right. Arianna was using me to get to her. She would never be the wife I wanted. No one in our social circle would accept or respect her. Meeting her and falling in love with her was a mistake.

She whispers in shock. "Wow! You are finally here, Miguel. It has been a while. So, you are the said boyfriend?" Anakin scoffs as he stands up to his feet and dusts the invisible dust on his long cloak. He turns fully to face Miguel while having a blank expression on his face.

Sidastir had himself a fully grown dragon far too big to ride with them in the wagon. Akana seemed to decide to ignore the sleeping dragon after a while and took out some documents instead. Sidastir was bored and leaned over the papers. "What are you reading?" he asked and tried not to burst out in laughter when he saw Akanas irked expression. Akana is a lot more bother with staying days in a wagon, without work, than he wanted to admit. "I am trying to choose my direction and courses at Virtus Scolaris," replied Akana briskly, and Sidastir's forehead wrinkled.

’ She muttered in displeasure but she did not pull away. “A snow wolf,” Koa said in a tone dripping with admiration. “Anakin would love you,” he said and to my greatest surprise, he leaned forward and kissed her fur. Ana froze. If she was human, she would be as red as a tomato. It was a shameless gesture. “I am going to shift now,” he announced. “You are welcome to watch.” My wolf turned around so fast I almost got whiplash.

“Your mother told me everything, son.” He finally lifts his gaze and locks eyes with Anika. His expression is unreadable—part steel, part sorrow, part awe. “I also heard from Briar,” he adds. “Anika made sure we were informed.” I glance at her. Of course she did. “We can’t panic the pack,” he continues, gesturing for us to sit. “So we move forward as if nothing’s wrong. No sudden changes, no shifts in routine.” Anika sits quietly, a quiet power humming off her. She’s no longer just a rogue or my mate—she’s our Luna. A divine warrior born of moonlight and fire, and my father sees it now. I can tell.
