Her Worst Nightmare
It was going to shatter.
When it did finally shatter, and the screams began, I jerked my head towards the sound, holding up my arms, the blue veins instinctively glowing brighter as if alerting me to the danger at hand.
The Archangels, who, I had noticed, had held back for most of the battle so far, remaining to the rear of their forces, overseeing the conflict and issuing orders to their commanders, were now hovering in the air, their heads thrown back as they screamed up into the skies. They screamed in unison, as one, and the sound they made – full of agony and fury - was terrifying to the core, but nowhere near as terrifying as the sound that greeted them in return.
