Married To My Gay Bestfriend
"Someone just left a package in our mailroom. I want it screened before anyone touches it."
The package was retrieved and examined. It was clean. No explosives, no chemicals, no biological agents. Just a small velvet pouch, identical to the one that had contained my mother-in-law's baby rattle. Inside the pouch was a silver locket, antique and engraved with the initials C.L. Celeste Lovelace. And inside the locket was a photograph of Eve, taken through the window of our apartment, with a date stamp from two days ago.
Attached to the locket was a note, handwritten in elegant script.
