She reached across the table and squeezed my hand. “Well, we’re here now, and I’m not letting you go off the grid again. Deal?”
“Deal.”
Sophia leaned back in her chair, cradling her latte with both hands as her expression turned curious. “So, what are you up to these days, Alessia? Last I heard, you were working at that fancy boutique downtown. Still there?”
I let out a soft laugh, shaking my head. “Not anymore. I’ve been bouncing between jobs lately. For now, I’m just working at a bar. Nothing too exciting, but it pays the bills.”
