NIGHT WAS SLOWLY FADING AWAY. The stars seemed to dim with the break of daylight that was slowly and calmly coming in. I stood gazing out the window in a state of utter apprehension struggling to fathom the very path that had led my life to this bleak dead end. I hurried to my window and pulled the drapes open, squinting when the saturated morning sun beams flooded into the room. I pulled my shutters open when a red fruit thumped on the window. Wet seeds splattered against the glass as it slid down and hit my window sill. It was a tomato.

He gave me an incredulous look that asked, 'You know how to drive even when your father never let you go out? 'Yes.' He nodded and made to ask another question, but my gaze skipped him and landed on the floor to ceiling windows whose curtains were now opened. They'd been closed all these days when I came out of Aria's room. It was nice to see them open, because at a point had started to suspect that they were vampires. The scene beyond it was mesmerising. I stared, unable to move.

Because I need them to be distracted so I can get out of here. I reach the large arched window despite my slow limping. With one last look behind me, I grab the cold metal handle and turn it as slowly and as carefully as I can. I expect it to squeak since I have no idea when it was last opened, but to my surprise, it made no sound. As smoothly as I never expected, the window slowly swings open, showing me the vast expanse of the dark grey sky overhead. Thick clouds are dotting the rest of it, covering some sections and casting shadows on the ground below.

The silence around me felt heavy and suffocating. As I gazed out of the window, I was filled with astonishment at the sight before me. Through the glass, I caught a glimpse of Sarah emerging from the front door of the house. The sunlight seemed to dance around her, illuminating the vibrant colors of her dress and casting a radiant glow around her.
