AURORA'S POV The shadows twisted around me, thick and suffocating, as I fell to my knees. My hands pressed into the cold black ground, trembling with exhaustion and rage. “Ancestors,” I breathed, my voice cracking. “Help me. Please!” A sudden pulse of power surged through the Shadow Realm. The earth beneath me split with a deafening crack. From the fissures, skeletal hands clawed their way upward, followed by pale figures cloaked in black mist. One by one, they emerged—a legion of vampires, their eyes glowing crimson like dying embers.

“The way I see it, we can sit here and throw ourselves a nice little pity party, or we can get on with the business of killing some vampires.” I laugh softly and wipe wispy hair out of her face. “You are fucking amazing you know that?” She shrugs a little and kisses me full on the lips. “I try.” “The stake won’t kill Asmodeus.” “What will?” “Nothing as far as I know. He’s pretty much a god.” “If it bleeds it can die,” she states simply. “There must be a way.” “Yeah.” I sigh and grip the back of her head, bringing her closer for a proper kiss.

I got my dad's light green ones, while Augustus has his dad, Kiran’s, gold and Ares has mom's lilac ones. Augustus is the only one of us to get an ancient shadow though. Ares got an executive shadow, with the ability to freeze time. It pairs well with his seer abilities. I got an executive shadow as well. My shadow, Luz, can bend light, which makes it able to clone me, make me invisible, cast mirages or illusions, and so forth. Then you add the fact that I am fused with a small part of mom's shadow and dad's shadow, giving me a small amount of my dad's healing ability, and mom's ability to control other's shadows, making me a damn powerhouse.
