The sound of gunshots greeted me as the elevator door opened, but not a single bullet struck me. I was right; a posse of assassins was waiting for me. I leaped to my feet and began kicking their behinds, punching their faces, and twisting their limbs and necks. I received a couple of kicks and punches, and I came dangerously close to being shot by their pistol bullets. I was trained in this kind of situation. If a cat has nine lives, then I have more than that. You think that joining the mafia is easy. No, I had to go through unimaginable moribund training. So, facing these useless, inept jackasses isn't that hard for me; it's the time constraint that makes it arduous.

The organization turns you into a killing machine and totally remove your emotions and feelings to pain which brought about the three main tests called the trio test of death and extremely painful set of test that only one percent of two hundred percent pass through the final stage. Among them, surviving the trio test was considered the greatest achievement possible. It was a nightmare disguised as training, most never survived, many broke mentally while thers died physically. And that was a week ago. I’d tried leaving more times than I could count, but his men shut me down every time, with the "The boss said you wait" line. I didn’t exactly have the luxury of arguing because I’d already clocked at least a dozen men posted around the perimeters, all of them gripping loaded pistols. And I knew there were more I hadn’t seen. One wrong move, one step out of line, and I’d be dead before I even hit the door. Even with years of assassin training it wouldn’t matter. I had no weapons or backup. And I definitely wasn’t stupid enough to walk into a losing fight.

Each morning, they woke us up with a cold bucket of water until we gradually learned to wake up on time by ourselves. The training was relentless. By 4 AM, we were already drilling: knife work, hand-to-hand combat, firearms, poisons. The instructors didn’t teach—they broke us. The worst part came at the end of each day. After hours of drills, they lined us up and paired us off. "Today’s lesson: efficiency," announced Gregor, the cold-eyed sniper who never spoke above a whisper. "You have one minute to disable your opponent. If you fail, he gets another minute with you."

“Most people don’t make it. I did.” Alessandro’s eyes darkened, and a slight frown appeared on his forehead like something had upset him. “Twenty weeks at Quantico,” I continued, “and they don’t coddle you. It’s firearms training, self-defense, advanced investigative techniques, psychological warfare. You’re either learning how to outthink criminals or you’re getting left behind. I wasn’t about to be left behind.” He brought my hand to his lips again, pressing soft kisses against my knuckles.

“Anyone that wishes to challenge one of the reigning assistants must show they have speed, strength, stamina, and agility for the position. Not only must they be able to be taught, but they also need to teach in my absence. Beta’s must show these skills when they are in post and this is what this class offers.” This is a man who takes pride in his work and I bet he has taught for many years. “There are five elements of my assessment process, Miss. Harper. The Assault course. Skill with a weapon. The human fight. The wolf fight. Finally, I need to observe your teaching style.”

I chuckled as I watched all this, unable to do a thing, so I was literally watching myself head to my death. Wow! He sucks ass but he did train me to be good," she added to her story with a chuckle and his face grimmed a little. He took deep breaths before looking to the side.

“Was it a power play? To show me how unwanted­­— ” A jerk and push had me shaken to my vessels and I am suddenly inches above the ground dangling on his whim, my ass firm on Alessandro’s desk with his lips in touching distance. His blazing green orbs drilling in my lens sheathed eyes. All sagas of his brutality running past my eyes, I was befuddled that his fiancé was above him. I was bulldozed level treffied now; It was like even my blood was frozen. My eyes shone in anxiousness, I trust my lens disguised.

“How is that possible? B’s death could be chalked up to a surprise, but A’s death…” “He was completely blown away.” The assassins were seldom moved by what they saw. Their training had been brutal, and they had lost many of their brothers on the way to becoming the 7th Sword’s most useful weapons. They had long been numbed to the brutalities of this world; but even they could not hold in their shock upon seeing such a brutal attack.
