Author Genevieve Graham Novels & Stories

"-are you gonna say your brother watched Mark this time, too or has that story gotten old?" She snickered as she received no reply, lifting her mug to her lips as she sank to her seat once again. "That's what I thought..." Genevieve pushed her bedroom door shut behind her, lifting her trembling hands to wipe away the tears that stained her skin. She could not bring herself to smile at her own victory, as she lifted her phone from her pocket and ended the audio recording. Instead, she felt nothing other—just as she saved the recording to her phone and began the transfer to her google drive—than a growing resent to the woman she could not help but love.

Genevieve’s POV I straightened slightly, smoothing my cardigan, slipping fully into the shape I wore every day here—the harmless one. “Hi! My name is Genevieve,” I said calmly. “I’m a library assistant.” I gestured to the desk behind me, the scanner, the neatly stacked returns. Ordinary. Safe. “How can I help you?” The question hung between us. Hazel didn’t answer right away. She just stared. Too long. Her eyes searched my face with something bordering on panic, as if she were waiting for me to say something else. Something truer. Something that would crack the world open.

“I knew it would get under Liam's skin and I was right. You two are fighting, aren't you? Good. Very good. I had no doubt it would work.“ My lips divide into an 'O'. So Genevieve was behind it all. She's trying to create a rift between Liam and me. And it's working. First, she followed us all the way to Paris and then sent those gifts. She's a dirty rotten snake who'll stop at nothing to get what she wants. It's pathetic! I'm still thinking of a fitting reply for her. I don't know why it's taking so damn long to come up with something. Genevieve takes a step closer. “I just wanted to speed things up a bit. You're so gullible, Rayne. You actually thought Damien was trying to win you over?”

Maya took a deliberately long sip of her coffee, looking absolutely done by I imagined it might be to buy some time to come up with an excuse because Genevieve didn't look like she would leave before getting something interesting out of us. “Do you know this boring ass bitch has never dated before?” Geneieve said to me, laughing like it was the hilarious thing she’d ever heard. “Hasn’t even touched a boy. Talk about pure.” She said it with so much warmth that for a second it didn’t register why the words scraped at me like sandpaper. I glanced at Maya but her face was arranged in a careful mask of indifference. Genevieve was genuinely waiting for a response from me. “Err, no,” I began carefu

That damn shoe was a distraction, a cruel reminder of how much power the Caradellis thought they had over us. But they wouldn’t hurt Zoe. Not now. Not while they were burying Evelyn. Would they? The door burst open, and Genevieve stormed in, her fiery red hair damp from the rain and clinging to her cheeks. She didn’t bother with pleasantries. “You’re unbelievable,” she said, slamming a newspaper onto the desk. “Do you even see what’s happening around you?” I didn’t bother looking at it. I already knew what it would say. Another headline. Another hit piece.

James commented, his eyes locked with Genevieve’s. Frowning slightly, Genevieve looked over at Noah and then back at James, saying, “Well, he is professionally related to me.” “Really?” James mumbled, raising a brow. “Yes. Umm... He's... He is my personal assistant.” “Uhm, I see.”

My heart literally stops as I have to gesture at Genevieve beside us, looking as gossip hungry as she always does. Riley stills, then a second later she looks at Genevieve stoically. “Miss Garrish,” Riley says, her British accent thick, “Nice to see you.” Genevieve eyes her, “oh it’s you. The girl who got Alexander locked up. I expected… more.” Riley doesn’t blink, doesn’t even show she’s offended, all I know is a second later Genevieve yelps and Riley’s glass is half empty, soaking through the newscaster’s pantsuit.

Anything to take the emphasis away from my sheer embarrassment. "I'm Genie". I can't even look him in the eye, let alone believe that he's sitting next to me and talking to me. "Nice name - what's it short for?". "It's Genevieve". I mumble. "Wow, not a name you hear often. I like it! So now we're acquainted can I buy you a drink?". He asks. Reluctantly I agree " Ok, a Guinness would be good. But just to clarify, It's not normally something I would do".

Grinning at the two, I took another mouthful of my liquor. "Kimberly, have you met Max's girlfriend?" Genny asked, gesturing to Blake. I swallowed while enjoying the constipated look on Kimmy's face. It suited her. "Actually, I'm Blake," Blake interjected. "I'm Mr. McTavish's guest. The beautiful lady over there is Max's girlfriend," Blake corrected, and now Kimberly's eyes were burning a hole in Meredith's face. My sister eyed me before she reached her palm out to shake Meredith's hand. “Hi, it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Genevieve, but you can call me Genny."

She passed by the framed campaign posters she had worked on and none of them credited to her directly, but each one holding pieces of her fingerprints. The elevator doors pinged behind her. She turned just slightly and caught Genevieve's reflection in the glass. "Early morning," Genevieve said breezily. "Planning another elevator pitch to Alexander?" Evelyn didn't take the bait. "Just catching up on campaign metrics." Genevieve's smile was thin. "Good. It's always helpful to stay… humble. You never know when the rug might be pulled out." Their eyes locked for a brief moment but just long enough to acknowledge the battle neither of them dared name out loud.
