They’re supposed to bring good mating luck.” ”I didn’t know that.” I sighed. There was so much I was learning, but stuff like this made me painfully aware of the gaps in my knowledge.

"These are beautiful. Who's your secret admirer?" "They're just flowers," I said, trying to distract her while carefully arranging them in a vase on my dressing table. "Just flowers?" Callista laughed, flopping onto my bed dramatically. "Seraphina, these are imported cornflowers. Do you know how much they cost?
