The burn scars on his right arm were still raw, and his eyes carried the heavy, haunted weight of a boy who had looked into the abyss and fought his way back out.
"It’s him," someone whispered in the crowd, the sound carrying in the echoing chamber.
"Patient Zero," another voice murmured, thick with awe and terror. "The Demon of Meru."
The crowd instinctively parted, clearing a path for him. They looked at Baraka not as a fellow refugee, but as a mythological figure. He was the boy who had survived the train crash. He was the host of the pure Source. He was the one who had shattered the Hive and brought the mountain down on Zenith.
