Leesa's Advent
She did not think mere birds could damage Dominic’s shield, no matter how many there were or how fast they rammed into it.
“These crows are imbued with magic,” Dominic said, answering Leesa’s unasked question. “Not very powerful, but the combined effect is taking its toll.” He poured more of his own magic into the shield, and the cracks slowly mended themselves.
The crows kept attacking, throwing themselves against the shield, heedless of the consequences. The mound of dead birds continued to grow.
Leesa stole a glance at phantom Rave. She thought she saw the tiniest hint of a smile on the corner of his lips. She knew the smile was the demon’s doing, not Rave’s.
