Will she be shocked upon seeing him, will she forgive him? The will she questions occupied his mind making it chaotic. What will he do if she doesn't forgive him? Mark did not dwell on his thoughts much because the battle was going to begin soon. "The battle between alpha Kelly of the ash band pack and alpha Matthew of the blue blood pack. Fight to the death!" The person in charge announced. The arena was in an uproar as both Matthew and Kelly stepped on the ground. The members of both packs held their breath as they prayed that their alpha emerges the winner.

The scar on my face was a reminder of the battles I had faced, but it was also a reminder that there were battles waged beneath the surface, battles that were hidden from the world. She can’t imagine what her life would be like if she had to go back with him. Elder Haynes steps into the ring, and the noise instantly dies. “This is a challenge issued by the Beta of this pack. This will be a battle to the death. There will be no weapons and no outside interference. You are allowed to shift at will. Are there any questions?” He looks between the two men, but neither is focused on him. ‘Let’s put him in his place. As I approach the arena, I notice a larger crowd has gathered. Word must have spread about my last fight. Baxter steps forward, clipboard in hand, and calls us forward in his brisk, no-nonsense tone. “Zahra Larkin, Beta, Blood Moon, versus Jaxx Northwood, Alpha, Eclipse.” Eclipse. A big-name pack with a reputation for producing top-tier warriors. I have no idea if their future alpha lives up to it, but I guess I’m about to find out.

The other drawing his weapon. "Stay down." More gunfire. Closer now. Way too close. Somebody had set them up. The question was who. Romano men fired back. Moretti men fired back. Nobody knew who shot first. Nobody cared anymore. War had officially replaced diplomacy. Mia heard Luca shouting orders. He sounded furious. Which meant things were very bad. A bullet tore through a nearby seat. Another struck the wall. Mark pushed Mia behind a concrete pillar. Shielding her. Again.

KNEW SHE WAS STRONG. The crowd is buzzing now. Confused. Excited. Shocked. Britney’s smirk fades. “You’re lying.” “Am I?” Rhea tilts her head. “I guess we’ll find out.” Beta Jack looks at Alpha Daniel. Alpha Daniel looks at me. I nod once. Let the match continue. “Very well,” Beta Jack says. He sounds uncertain. “Both fighters—take your positions.” They move to opposite sides of the arena. Britney shifts immediately. Her brown wolf is large. Aggressive.

Not like a cage. Like a battlefield.

Points for me, I'm scoring high here. "Tha' it," I hear him mutter angrily before AJ goes flying out of the line altogether with a force that should never ever be used on a girl. I'm so tired of people like Oliver and Bex. Why do they have to exist? Summoning the 'Landon' in me, I act on instinct alone. I immediately turn around and land a solid punch on the jerk's face, just about breaking my fist in the process -- I'm a gentleman until pushed over the line. I'm not the fighting type but this guy had it coming.
