I was proud too, for all this time I thought someone else might come save me from this dreadful day, but turns out that I was my own knight in the shining armour. Not just in situations like this but in everyday life too. You have to remember one thing that you have to stand-up for yourself first. People can help you, advice you in certain situations or guide you towards light but it's you who has to take your own decisions. I heard another warning howl and I took off, my wound slowing me down. I remember sourly what Mom once told me one day after I had my regular argument with Dad. I remember vividly pouring my heart out to her and she said. "When you are alone, you become your own hero. Don't rely on people because they won't always be there for you" she said emphatically and I went to bed angry. I realize how correct she was but not fast enough.

I would not let them defeat me. As the crowd continued to shout and jeer, I took a deep breath and braced myself for whatever was coming next. I didn't know what was going to happen, but I knew that I had to stay strong and fight for myself. No one was going to rescue me, and I had to be my hero.

"That's such a cheesy line and I've read it in too many romance novels to know what it means." | said and that seemed to have Nicholas interest because he sat up from the bed. "Oh yeah, what does it mean?” Nicholas asked with a smirk. I rolled my eyes at his piqued interest. "The hero says something like that to the heroine and she momentarily forgets herself. I dipped my chin until my vision fell to the ground. “You can do it. No one said this would be easy, but I know you can do this. You are strong, capable, and talented. There is nothing you can’t do when you set your mind to it. Just think of all the things you have done that there was no way you should have been able to do. The witches might have helped unlock what is inside you, but it has always been there. You must believe in yourself, just as I believe in you.” Kierian tilted my head back until I was forced to look up at him again.

"Now is not the time to be weak. Don't expect help from me every time you get into trouble. Remember, once you come out and see the world for yourself, your safety and success will be your responsibility. Not mine, others, or anyone else. Now quickly move and get out of here!" Weak... Was I weak? Perhaps I was... Grandmother was right. There was no such thing as being saved by anyone. In the end, one could only survive if one learned how to protect him or her own self. No one would come to save you, so you have to save yourself.

Sometimes you forget your true power because of your own fear. Fear created by you, yourself. Your fear empowers your desire to bloom. You, yourself make the enemy stronger. Either you knock them down the very first time or either you fall down and hide in the corner, blaming your fate and blaming the god. Your fate might have been written long ago but it's all on you. You either fight for your dreams or you either go along with your fate which sometimes have nothing but failures, but it's all on you.
