She finally blinked, turning away from me to grab the broom from the corner of the kitchen without making eye contact. “It's a myth,” she muttered, her back still turned. “A myth,” I repeated, not buying it for a second. “An old one.” She swept the broken glass into a neat pile, her movements tight and forced. “The elders used to tell it to the pups to keep them from wandering out into the woods at night. A scary name, a scary story. That's all it is.” “So I just happened to have a horrific nightmare about a bedtime story I've never even heard before?”

I switch of my bedside lamp and close my eyes thinking of Robinson Crusoe and Tom Sawyer another bedtime story that mom loves to read to me. Suddenly I hear loud bang from the down the stairs and I jerk my eyes open. My chest slamming against my t-shirts in rapid beats as the banging continue. I bit my lips, too scared to go outside. And then I start to hear whimpers, soft and muffled. I slip down from my bed and trudge to the door silently turning the knob. I tiptoe to the top of the stairs and it takes all my willpower not to scream at the sight before me. The place is dark except for the light from the moon seeping in through the open door.

The universe would have had to gamble some of the ozone layer just for those words to even be placed in that order.

Her head rests on my chest as my heartbeat steadies her.

I scream for help, she holds my lips

Their foreheads touched and he caressed her cheek, "It means, you and i can cuddle all night long," he smiled. "I don't think I wanna cuddle tonight," Ashleigh stated with a pout. "No?" "Nah." Mom and Dad will come to me and let me sleep in their room. Yuan said that I should not be afraid of Nightmare because it visits the ones who are scared of it. He said that if I became brave to sleep alone, Nightmare won’t visit me. When I was eight, he gave me his favorite stuffed toy. He said it protects him from Nightmare and if I sleep with the teddy bear, Nightmare will not come to me. I don’t know what happened because his teddy bear suddenly lost its magic to protect me from Nightmare.
