I vaguely felt someone rubbing the bruising on my right hand while I was half-conscious. "What do you mean he got into a car accident, and that three critical-condition notices were issued? Is this a lingering effect? It seems like the wound on the abdomen is slightly infected. "I'll head out for a while. Have the nurse hurry with the anti-inflammatories and change the dressing. Go turn up the AC and get the IV heater in here." I pried my eyes open with effort, meeting a gaze full of worry. "D-Delilah?" Delilah replied, "I'm right here, so just go back to sleep, Tristan. You'll feel better once you've rested."

I walked toward her, my reflection in the glass floor making it look like I was walking on water. ​"You didn't graduate me," I said, leaning down until we were eye-to-eye. "You underestimated me. You thought I would be a victim forever, but Malakai didn't just take me—he woke me up. And now that I’m awake, I realized that the only thing more dangerous than a man with a gun is a woman who has nothing left to lose."

The person smells so nice ,I mumble incoherent words before going back to sleep. After a while I feel my back hit something soft, I opened my eyes just a little to see a male figure,I was about to freak out when person start to rub my back gently and I become drowsy again falling back to sleep. I hear the person muttering something like 'goodnight beautiful ' before I wander back into dream land. I wake up the next morning to knocking on my door,I groan out loudly before getting out of bed and dragging my feet to open the door.

If this is the path, I will walk it. I won’t be dragged. I will not be silent in my own story. My pulse slows. My throat loosens. My mind settles like a lake after the wind pulls away. I fall asleep like that. Not peacefully. But with awareness. Like I am resting with my eyes still open inside my thoughts. Like I am preparing. ⸻ Morning I wake before the sun reaches the room. I know it without checking. The air feels cooler. The light is still blue-grey. My body feels heavier than last night, but not weak. More like everything has settled into place.

I want to wake up, but I feel as if I’m not able to. Wake up……you have to wake up. I want to wake up, but I don’t feel I have the energy to do so. I’m so tired. I feel like I haven’t slept in ages. Wake up! Something is missing! The voice is echoing in my head, and I’m starting to think that I will never be able to wake up.

Isn’t that obnoxious *********************** The sound of a buzzing alarm clock wakes me up,my eyes flatter owlishly, as the striking day of light hits my left eyes, subconsciously turning, I spot a figure standing imobile before me, what's that ?, it’s blue figure morphed with each blink, “ uhm good morning sir ” i hear familiar voice, iy sound echos as i slowly drift back to sleep. “ good morning” i said in a low whisper, i as i tugged harder on the sheets, “ I would be going now sir”.

She went for her breakfast and that of Ana and proceeded to Ana's room. "Good morning, Ana darling. How are you doing?" Mrs Scott greeted waking Ana up. Ana got up from the bed and suppressed a yawn as she picked up the morning coat that came with the pyjamas she was wearing. "I am sorry I woke you. It is 8:30 a.m. and I think you need to have your breakfast and take your medication. And we can sit on the balcony for some fresh air," Mrs Scott said. "Thank you, ma'am," Ana appreciated with a smile.

"I just got out of the emergency room, but they're sending me to the ICU. You need to come to the hospital, pay my medical bills, and reimburse the firefighters who paid for me." At this point, I was barely clinging to life. Frankly, it took every ounce of strength I had left to make that call. Each word I forced out sent fresh waves of pain through my body, sweat dripping from my forehead. Yet, he simply said, "If you're well enough to call me, it can't be that bad. There's no need for me to come. Paige's unwell and having nightmares. She needs me by her side." He had to be with her when she was doing experiments, when she was in a bad mood, when it was her birthday…

I woke up twice in the night. Both times the first thing I thought was: if I don't step back, I won't stop. I didn't think of his face, not the hallway, not anything surrounding the words. Just those words. They were sitting in my chest when I surfaced from sleep, like they'd been waiting there. It was a new day. I woke up before my alarm. I turned it off before it could ring and made my way to the bathroom.

I wake up before the sun. Not because I slept well—because I didn’t—but because my body decided it was time to face the day, even though my mind is still trapped in yesterday’s fear. I open my eyes slowly, feeling the familiar weight in my belly, my breathing a little shallow, my heart racing for no clear reason. Everything is too quiet.
