that's literally just milk and cereal in separate bowls. "Revolutionary," he deadpans. In the poetry section, he stops and pulls down a slim volume with a worn cover. Flips through it slowly until he finds what he's looking for. "Listen to this." His voice drops lower, intimate in the quiet space. He reads a poem about two people finding each other again after years apart, about second chances and choosing love despite fear. The words are simple but devastating, made more so by the way he reads them—slow and deliberate, like each line matters.

Her favorite by the writer. He was young, definitely younger than her, dressed in jeans with holes and a white linen shirt tucked in the front with a brown leather jacket over it. His hair was dark brown, almost black and hung in loose ringlets to his shoulders. He was wearing what looked like very expensive boots. He may have been the most beautiful man she had ever seen, in person. He glanced her way and his eyes met hers. They were so blue she was sure they were contacts. She was flushed, she could feel it. She looked down and started toward the other side of the shelf, trying to seem unaffected. She peeked through the books and noticed he was coming closer, still thumbing through the boo

“It’s obvious that you are not always visiting our portal for a University update. This woman.” I laugh but stop eventually when Mister Dawson called for our attention once again. Levi stayed on Alaric’s seat as the Professor discussed about his instructions. “Take a copy and read about that poem. I will be collecting your paper until this Monday, eight in the morning.” When the paper reaches to me, I automatically skim the page and it clearly states that it’s one of the most famous poem by William Shakespeare. Sonnet 18: Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?

Jasper said thoughtfully. "Sounds good. I remember a famous poem 'Far From The Madding City'. The poem was about arriving at a paradise after passing through a narrow cave. The people there grew their own crops and lived a peaceful life." "How could you still remember these things?" Jasper was curious. He remembered that he had read this when he was a child, but he had almost forgotten all of it. "I like these romantic poems, especially the ones by Robert Frost, Emily Dickinson, and Elizabeth Barrett Browning," Stella chatted casually.

“Forget it. Are you going to read tonight?” Maya nodded. “I better get back. I’m usually the last one. Go ahead and look around.” He watched her go back to the crowd and wandered through the shelves. He listened absently to the next poet, who recited lines through the muted wilderness music, and wrinkled his nose. God, he hated poetry. The spilling out of emotion, messy and unbridled, for any stranger to pick up and share. The convoluted comparisons between nature and rage, the endless clichés, and the confusing imagery made a man question his intelligence. No, give him a good biography or a classic like Hemmingway. Give him the opera, where within the fierce emotions there was control.

Turning the music off, I grab the lavender and put it in a tiny glass vase, and set it in the center of the long ebony black dining table. Walking out of the conjoined dining room and kitchen I grab my book, my water bottle, and a blanket. I set the water and blanket by the back door that leads to the porch, and the beach a little off, and head back to the kitchen with my book. Of human bondage, by W. Somerset Maugham. The book itself isn't bad, but from my point of view, it's terribly bland. I like more poetic works. But also a hint of darkness. The best example is the poem, In the Desert, by Stephen Crane, from his book The Black Riders and Other Lines. It has a sense of dystopia that I ca

I prompted. “I am reading the epic poems by the Fae Sage Yric of Cynraed, most particularly the Paragon of Theodghar and the Deceit of Elovyn.” “Poetry,” I sat back on my heels and regarded him in bemusement. The beautiful golden-haired man was absorbed in reading poetry, or all the unusual things for him to possibly be reading in a dragon’s cave, poetry had not even entered my speculative list. “I did not imagine you would read poetry.”

These good hours that he/she would invest in a good read would leave a little smile on their everyday gloomy faces. After reading the whole series of Harry Potter I was aspired to be one of their kind. I even put the protective charms outside my room, to keep away all the evil and I believe it sort of worked. I grew up reading Shakespeare, Conan Doyle, Ruskin Bond, Agatha Christie, Jane Austen, William Wordsworth, John Green, Lemony Snicket and many such marvelous writers and poets. Though one may not be able to create stories or write poems, one can always entertain themselves by reading the enriching literature that lets you explore the world, without having to move your feet.

I didn't expect that. "That's a really sad book," I say. "You've read it," she straightens up a little. I nod. "And the other one?" "My mom gave it to me," she tightens her hold on it. "Poems, by Samuel Taylor Coleridge and Ernest Hartley Coleridge. Do you know him?" "Yeah. No man was ever yet a good poet, without being at the same time a profound philosopher. I read Poems for an assignment in school," "You went to school?" she all but shouts. I'm taken aback by her outburst.

Her work at the local bookstore, once a mundane routine, now felt infused with a sense of meaning. She found herself drawn to the poetry section, her fingers tracing the spines of books she had never explored before.
