No mirror, no filter made her feel as beautiful as his eyes did. He gently laid her down on the soft, inviting mattress, gently parting their lips. The longing in his eyes was palpable as they traced every curve and contour of her face. She luxuriated in the warmth of his intense gaze, feeling an unparalleled sense of beauty and desirability. No mirror or filter could ever evoke the same profound feeling of beauty as the captivating gaze of his eyes.

Sophia stood outside the glass doors of St. Clair Industries, staring at her reflection. The woman looking back at her wasn’t the same one who had walked through these doors weeks ago. Her face was pale, her eyes hollow, her once soft features now sharp with exhaustion. Grief had stripped away every ounce of warmth she used to carry.

“That should not be possible.” Kael’s voice was tight. “Nothing tonight seems to care what should be possible.” The hum in my chest surged. Then stilled. A pressure built behind my eyes, not pain exactly. Awareness narrowing, focusing, like a lens turning until everything else blurred away. There. Beyond the ridge. Beyond the forests and valleys and borders I could feel now like nerves under skin. Something had turned fully toward me. “You need to step back,” Kaden said, low and urgent. “Whatever this is, you do not face it alone.”

I gasped, my body jerking violently as though struck by lightning. The Witch's Eye opened. At first, all I saw was darkness-deep, suffocating, endless. Then a ripple of light tore across it, unveiling shapes, outlines, fragments of a reality beyond my own. My vision stretched outward, far beyond the confines of my chamber, rushing like a river through barriers I had never been able to cross before. I felt myself soaring, spiraling into a vast network of unseen threads that connected everything. It was dizzying, intoxicating. The boundaries of time and space bent before me, whispering secrets I wasn't meant to hear.

A small window. Beat it from inside. And slowly there was something behind it. Not a face. An eye. A single eye looked through the glass. Mara cried and almost dropped the box. Jonas caught her last moment. The boat was very dangerous. Elias cursed and held on the edge. John grabbed Mara. “Don’t look!” But it was too late. Mara had seen it. And at the moment when her eyes hit the eye, the pain exploded through her Head. Not memory.

"Enough." The ground trembled. Everyone turned. The giant eye beyond the shattered gate had narrowed. Its immense gaze swept across the battlefield. "The door is opening." Silence followed. Then something struck from the other side of reality. The impact echoed through the mountains like a hammer blow. A deep, thunderous boom. Every head snapped toward the gate. The fracture behind the colossal eye widened. Jagged cracks spread through the darkness beyond, revealing brief glimpses of something moving far behind it. Something enormous.

The Eye Beneath A tremor spread across Black Hollow, rippling through stone, bone, and blood. The altar had split open like a broken rib cage, revealing not just darkness but consciousness. The Eye beneath stared upward, unblinking, ancient... and aware. John staggered back, his knees buckling. He couldn’t look away. The eye wasn’t just watching it was looking into him. Sifting through memories, fears, guilt. Sarah pulled him, breaking the connection. “John! Snap out of it!”

“I looked in your eyes and it’s like I went offline, and I’m not sure what happened next.” She took a sharp breath in understanding. “You got lost.” “In your eyes?” I went from confusion to understanding as my mind reeled at maximum speed. There are a lot of preternatural things out there. Things with all sorts of abilities. One of the first things I’ve been told about gods is to never look in their eyes, as some of them can pull you in. I know some sidhes can do that too. I don’t think I’ve even encountered anything trying this trick on me though.

Silence crashes around us. Because if a being beyond existence is afraid Then whatever just woke up is beyond even it Far out in the endless void Two enormous eyes open And reality itself begins to shake.
