The Beta’s Unwilling Bride
I want to say something, to break this ice, but my pride holds me back.
When we arrive at the clearing, the mating ceremony is in full swing. Laughter and howls fill the air, couples dancing under the stars. The scent of wine and roasted meat wafts over, making my stomach growl despite everything. Sebastian parks, gets out, and waits for me without a word. I step out, looping my arm through his like the perfect beta’s mate, or whatever I am now. We walk toward a table set up near the center, heads turning our way. I hold my chin high, smiling politely, playing the role. Inside, though, I’m churning.
