Everything was dark, desolate and cold; devoid of life. From deep within this darkness appeared a bright flicker of light. White light. The flicker grew sporadically until a figurine began to manifest, materializing from the brilliance of flashing white lightning. The figurine’s extremely pale and near white visage then became visible. It was her. The goddess of war and death. The white lightning that arced all over her body then spread out, engulfing the darkness and revealing a completely destroyed earth. The sky was red as it rained fire, setting everything ablaze that it came into contact with.

The world around them rumbled, and out of absolutely nowhere, the entire visible sky darkened with black storm clouds, jagged purple and blue bolts of lightning slinging between them. The very earth seemed to hold its breath as the women brought their hands together with a CRACK! The tension gathered high above suddenly broke all at once, sending hundreds of bolts of lightning crashing around them. Screams of agony filled the woods as the anarchist threat was snuffed out in a reign of heavenly fire.

I looked at my nails and realized I needed some red or maybe black nail polish. Red would look much better because it symbolized a variety of ideas, including my love for Rhys, the color of Blaze's blood, as well as danger and rage. Definitely red. Black, however, would also look lovely. Like Rhys' wings—so pretty. And darkness—my new safe haven—was comforting. At the very least, I knew that darkness would always be present when the sun went down, the lights went out, or I closed my eyes. It was always there, enveloping me wholly and making me feel less lonely.
