Jeremy blocked the blade as it hovered inches over his heart. If only he could reach the stake at his belt, he would have this bloodsucker right where he wanted him. “Jeremy!” one of his packmates shouted. In the midst of his own battle, Blaze kicked Jeremy’s gun toward him, but Lucas was too focused on the thrill of his strike, his blade inches from Jeremy’s chest, to notice. Jeremy reached for the gun with his free hand. If his fingers would just go an inch farther… “Any last words, Commander?” the vampire hissed.

It wasn't what they agreed on. Vadim looked over his shoulder, and his gaze caught Silas, he tilted his head and Silas stepped toward him. Vadim whistled and Aiden looked at the entrance. Seconds later, twenty vampires armed with blades, axes, and daggers stormed in. “Not again!” Aiden complained.

Adam’s gaze hardens and Luther asks, “Is there anything else you can tell us?” I try to focus on Luther, he looks at me like he cares, smiles softly as if letting me know that I’m not alone. Before he could brace himself, Jayden shoved a knife laced with silver in his stomach and jerked it out before shoving it back in two more times.
