It was a good day. Everything seemed okay. Woodhidge, the town we were headed to in my yellow sedan, was not your ordinary town. It was a town where most of its inhabitants were Supernaturals. Humans took no more than five per cent of the town total population. That indicated that roughly ninety-five percent of Woodhidge's inhabitants were not humans. Unknown to the humans there, werewolves, vampires, witches, wizards, shapeshifters, mindreaders, and seers were also proud residents of Woodhidge. However, more than half of Woodhidge's population as a whole were werewolves. The werewolf preponderance made it look like there weren't any other beings living there aside from the werewolves.

My wolves watch their queen, ready to jump into action at the slightest indication that something is off, but so far the witches have been nothing but courteous, almost nice even. Just before three a.m. two male witches disappear into the hut where they’re keeping Blaire, reappearing with her a minute later. The erstwhile high priestess walks towards the pyre, her head held high. “It ends tonight,” she whispers and smiles at me. “There will be no fire.” My stomach twists into knots. What did she do? As long as she’s alive, my mate’s in danger…and she’s not dead yet. I can feel Willow’s tension and fear radiating from her, and it drives Dario insane with concern. “We should get her,” he says.

Lucien’s POV My hands shook as I walked up the driveway to Sam. I could see her waiting for me on the porch and it made me nervous. Me. Lucien Blackwood. Alpha of the Blackwood pack. Nothing ever made me nervous. Nothing except that small witch that carried my child. She was everything to me, everything to us.

She focused on the task at hand, trying to ignore the death and decay around her. Slowly but surely, Blair managed to clean up the area around the gallows. It was a small victory, but it gave her a glimmer of hope. Maybe, just maybe, she could survive in this strange and terrifying world. Ralph, the alpha king’s stepbrother and the head of the Royal guard watched as Blair worked, his eyes fixed on her intently. He had noticed something strange and different about her, something he couldn't quite put his finger on. There was something so different about her, something that he had never seen before.

“You had no experience to go off of, spirit witches are powerful, it's no wonder they rarely seek asylum in packs. They’re able to survive on their own, not protected by any packs or any of their covens. The spell that she had over you was probably fool proof.” She’s about to respond but we reach the witch’s cottage. I pull her up the stairs with me and knock on the door. Blair answers immediately. “Alpha! Come in, please.” she says while stepping aside. I enter her house, I’ve been here plenty of times, so I’m expecting the overwhelming scent of all her herbs that are drying on the counter. She leads us past the kitchen and to her office.

Blaire points out her cousin who was at the front seat at the bar where all drinks were made, waiting for us. Blair took me by the hand, and we started walking through the crowd. "Hey sexy blonde thing," a few men call out to Blair while others whistle at her. Blaire smiled at them and remained to pull me over to her cousin. Octavia is a stout and curvaceous wolf. Her dark hair was cut low and stylish, and her face was painted beautifully in makeup. "Hi," she greets me as she stood up. "Hi," I greeted her back with a smile.

Nathan broke the uncomfortable silence as he continued scanning some files. “What the hell? Are you fucking kidding me? How?” he pushed himself on the edge of the chair with one elbow on the table, impatiently waiting for answers. It was a shocker for him. He had taken care of Laura her whole life but hadn’t noticed anything unusual. Was Nathan making fun of him? “I am not kidding, Nick. Laura and Elaine are both witches. They have been working with those cloaked men in the U9,” Nathan said lightly. Nick pressed his head between his palms in disbelief, eyes bulging and face reddening. “Oh, shoot. The hell?”

Robert's vision broadened in shock, an image flashed through his mind as his whole body shook in anxiety. The image Of the girl deep in the woods flared through his head, her sparkling green eyes which held so much stiffness when she talked, her red lips moved to the rhythm of the heartbeat. His hazel eyes flickered with so much shock as he stared at the old woman, "A witch?" He mumbled with indecisive emotions.

Mara could not believe the words that Mia was saying, they were not friends but she never took her as an enemy; rather she admired Mias’ skills in the act of wizardry and wanted to learn from her not until she noticed that Mia dabbled in black magic. Unfortunately for her, Mia was accusing her of what she was involved in and there was no way to prove her innocence. She was clueless on what to do next and her mother had been crying uncontrollably beside her. “We must get rid of her before she destroys us all with her black magic and enslaves us all.” someone in the crowd said, the gathering had increased substantially. “Enough.” The alpha of the pack said he was not as imposing as most alphas
