He glanced at the cigarette in my hand, then smiled faintly before taking it from me, reaching into his coat pocket and pulling out a gold lighter. I didn’t know much about lighters, but I had spent enough time in rooms filled with people who did to recognize one when I saw it; the S.T. Dupont lighter in his hand was unmistakable—custom-made, engraved with his name, and that mysterious letter E people had once speculated about without ever arriving at an answer. He pressed it open with a soft metallic click, and a steady blue flame rose between us, casting a faint glow across his face. Holding the cigarette between his fingers with effortless precision, he leaned it toward the flame, and wit

“What is that?” Blaze smiled. “It’s called a Montana Sky. It has lemonade, elderflower gin, and lavender syrup. Want a sip?” She offered it to Amerie, who hesitantly sipped. Her eyes widened. It was sweet and refreshing, and reminded her of a spring day. “Wow.” Amerie said. “I’m definitely getting that next.” Blaze grinned. “Careful. It’s almost as dangerous as my shop.” She winked. Amerie couldn’t help but laugh.

Blaze added casually which made Breiy turn to him again. Breiy became thoughtful for a while while he blankly stared at the chopping board in front of him. "I will release a limited edition pick-up truck this week, only two top-of-the-line units. A black and a white panther edition. The mass production started last month and the initial units will be available in the market in the middle of next month" Breiy explained while he continued to chop the vegetables. Blaze paused for a while and stared at the back of his brother. "The black one" Blaze responded and went to his cooking.

“Why don’t you get a tie for him?” Then, Myka saw that Carol’s gaze was fixed elsewhere. She looked over and saw “Haze”. Haze was a lighter company that rose to prominence over the past few years. While it was not as famous as Zippo or Givenchy, its design and reputation were among the top in the country. “Are you thinking of giving him a lighter?” Carol nodded and went to Haze’s counter. After the shopping assistant introduced some of the different lighters, Carol picked a minimalistic, platinum lighter with no decorations whatsoever.

I wasn’t going out like this. Sirens suddenly wailed out from the darkness outside as red and blue lights lit up the smoke-filled room. Help was here! But would they even know I was in here? Would Ace alert them? Was he even still around? What kind of lowlife, scum-of-the-earth boyfriend would leave their girlfriend in a house that was on fire? Depressingly, I realized I had that boyfriend, and I allowed him to treat me like this. I was no better than he was.

Blue sat at the edge of the rooftop, his legs dangling into the night air, the city lights shimmering like broken promises beneath him. The wind tugged at his hair, cold and sharp against his skin, but it couldn’t chill the fire burning in his chest. He clenched the silver lighter in his hand—the same one River had given him the night everything changed. It was scratched now, dulled from time and too many nights like this. A relic of the boy he once was, and a reminder of the man he could never escape becoming.

Zak said, catching his breath. “I have at last overcome every single one,” stated Johann, proceeding toward his subsequent stop. Ronnie fired and hit his final enemy, then informed others of the situation: “I’ve taken care of everyone here too.” Johann, Ronnie, and Zak pulled out their customized lighter, marked with a flame and heart symbol representing their organization. After lighting it, they tossed it into the gasoline they’d poured all over the building, setting off a fire that stands as a symbol of their organization.

Nathaniel said, pointing at a box of bullets on a shelf beside an old lantern. I brushed the snow off my coat and rushed to the fireplace. I tossed in a few logs, then searched for something to light it with. “Do you have a lighter?” I asked. “I don’t smoke. Gabriel does.” “As if I could ask Gabriel to come here with a lighter!” I snapped. He shrugged. “Then no. I don’t.” I ignored him and searched near the fireplace until I found a box of matches. I grabbed paper and thin splinters of wood and struggled to get the fire started.

“In a hurry? Like to a fire or were you carrying the matches and kerosene?” “NO! I didn’t need to provide that. I mean talkin’ bout fire….” Daisy gave the blonde a beady eyed look. “This woman arrives hugging up and climbing on the Monroe men like they were freakin’ Everest or some damn thang. So...yeah, I was thinking about hosing her ass down.”

Inside was a sleek metallic lighter, with an engraved crest on the side. I stepped closer, my eyes narrowing. “A lighter,” I muttered. “Yes, sir,” Anders replied. “Found under the old carpet near the fireplace in the late Mr Vitale study. Hidden deep, like it fell there during a struggle.” I examined it closely through the plastic. The design was rare handcrafted, detailed with gold linings and a small letter carved near the edge. “I haven't seen this before” I said quietly. “My father doesn't smoke, and neither do I. None of us do.”
