I said to him and he nodded at me. “Fire, blue fire works best for witches, it starts to burn them from the inside,” he said to me. “I’ve never used blue fire before, just green and red,” I said to him. “It works basically the same, but I’ll teach you the words. I’ve never used them, because I don’t want to feel the burning afterwards, you should really consider not doing it,” Bryan said to me. “If the option is there not to use it, I won’t. Last time wasn’t so nice,” I said to him and he laughed at me.

She lifted her arm and extended it, palm outward. Focusing her aim in a way that now came naturally to her, she fired a tight, two-inch wide yellow beam at the nearest carcass, striking the joint of one of the arms just below the giant pincer. Her beam cut easily through the cartilaginous material, and the pincer dropped to the ground. “Very cool,” Lights said approvingly. “Kind of like a laser—tight and concentrated. Blaze’s Power is more like a flamethrower—an extremely hot flamethrower.”

I pull it out slow and place it between my lips. I take the old lighter from my pocket, it is silver, engraved with the wolf. I flick it and flame jumps bright. I bring it close. The tip glows red when I inhale deep, smoke fills my lungs and it burns perfect. I close the case with a sharp snap. Set it back on the desk exactly where it was. The first drag tastes like victory. Like power, like tomorrow’s blood. Somewhere out there a man is waking up to the fact that his daughter now carries my name burned into her flesh.

He glanced at the cigarette in my hand, then smiled faintly before taking it from me, reaching into his coat pocket and pulling out a gold lighter. I didn’t know much about lighters, but I had spent enough time in rooms filled with people who did to recognize one when I saw it; the S.T. Dupont lighter in his hand was unmistakable—custom-made, engraved with his name, and that mysterious letter E people had once speculated about without ever arriving at an answer. He pressed it open with a soft metallic click, and a steady blue flame rose between us, casting a faint glow across his face. Holding the cigarette between his fingers with effortless precision, he leaned it toward the flame, and wit

“What is that?” Blaze smiled. “It’s called a Montana Sky. It has lemonade, elderflower gin, and lavender syrup. Want a sip?” She offered it to Amerie, who hesitantly sipped. Her eyes widened. It was sweet and refreshing, and reminded her of a spring day. “Wow.” Amerie said. “I’m definitely getting that next.” Blaze grinned. “Careful. It’s almost as dangerous as my shop.” She winked. Amerie couldn’t help but laugh.

I’m going to set it all ablaze. I scarf down the cheese and meat he’d left out, knowing I’ll need my strength, before digging in the pockets of his discarded pants for his lighter. I find an elaborate gold zippo covered in elegant, embossed moaning women, and snap it open, admiring the tiny blue-orange flame that flickers to life, so small but beautifully destructive.

Blaze added casually which made Breiy turn to him again. Breiy became thoughtful for a while while he blankly stared at the chopping board in front of him. "I will release a limited edition pick-up truck this week, only two top-of-the-line units. A black and a white panther edition. The mass production started last month and the initial units will be available in the market in the middle of next month" Breiy explained while he continued to chop the vegetables. Blaze paused for a while and stared at the back of his brother. "The black one" Blaze responded and went to his cooking.

“Why don’t you get a tie for him?” Then, Myka saw that Carol’s gaze was fixed elsewhere. She looked over and saw “Haze”. Haze was a lighter company that rose to prominence over the past few years. While it was not as famous as Zippo or Givenchy, its design and reputation were among the top in the country. “Are you thinking of giving him a lighter?” Carol nodded and went to Haze’s counter. After the shopping assistant introduced some of the different lighters, Carol picked a minimalistic, platinum lighter with no decorations whatsoever.
