Desa’s lips curved into a gentle smile. “Good morning, little one.”
Hope smiled back, bright as sunrise, and lifted her hands. Her small fingers moved with graceful certainty, shaping silent words in the air.
“What are you doing here?” Hope signed.
Desa chuckled softly, understanding her sign language without hesitation. “I’m trimming the flowers,” she said. “They need care, just like people do.”
Hope tilted her head, eyes twinkling with quiet wonder. She stepped closer, until she stood within the halo of Desa’s calm. Then she looked up, meeting the maids gaze, deeply, fully as if peering into the very heart beneath the skin.
