Alpha Ares
I just stared at my brown ear as she bit into my side, pain lancing me but barely scraping the sides of the hollowness that threatened to swallow me whole.
Hazy darkness crackled across the endless swathes of white-grey mist. My head pounded. I stared helplessly at Etta as she reared up, primed to strike again, her claws gleaming with my blood.
A blur of black shattered my vision. Blood pulsed from my side, from my face, from my throat; worst of all was the throbbing where my right ear had once been. Everything external felt wet and warm, steeped in fresh blood as it was, though my soul was frozen over.
