Chapter 44: Blind to Everything but Him ANNABEL My eyes widened under the blindfold at his words, a rush of excitement flooding my veins. I didn’t know what was coming, but my body thrummed with anticipation, every nerve on edge, craving whatever he had planned. “Oh no, don’t get excited yet, baby…” His voice was a low, dangerous growl, dripping with promise. I heard him shuffle, the faint clink of something metallic, then a hum vibrated through the air—a device, alive and buzzing.

I said sarcastically. “Well, your prince is bit twisted so our fairytale has a twist. Not bad, right?” Ethan smiled at me lovingly then pulled out a blindfold that he had been hiding. “Ready?” He asked, a playful smile on his sensual lips. He didn’t wait for my reply as he slowly placed the blindfold on me. My world was now pitch black. Robbed of my sight, my other senses became even more active to compensate for my lack of sight. This is exciting but also quite scary.

Every sound became amplified, and every sensation intensified. The muffled sounds of the ocean waves and the chirping of distant crickets became Ava's world as the blindfold took away her sight. "Shame we didn’t bring the headphones," Carver's warm and husky voice made her jump slightly. A small chuckle escaped her lips. "Not sure I’m quite ready for that level of sensory deprivation yet." Carver's laughter was infectious, filling the room. "Where's your sense of adventure?" he teased.

There are days when I wonder what the world around me looks like, what the prey I eat looks like, I even wonder what my mate looks like but I'll never ask because I know that although I am blind and most likely odd looking I will never stand alone. Lorenzo cleared his throat, "Yes." He firmly said, raising his chin up. Bonnie only shrugged, "Alright." They went downstairs and sat on the huge leather couch. Lorenzo switched on the TV and handed the blindfold to Bonnie. "Care to help?" She smiled and took the blindfold from him. Bonnie put the blindfold over his eyes and he turned around making it easier for Bonnie to tie it.

"What?" "I might be blind, my sweet wife, but I can hear how shallow your breathing is," Damien murmured, his lips curving into a dangerous, lazy smile. "You're suffocating in that silk. Take it off. Change into something comfortable. Pretend I’m not even here." Avery stared at him. Her eyes darted from his relaxed posture to the pitch-black sunglasses covering his eyes. He’s blind, she reminded herself, her face flushing a deep, burning crimson. He can't see a thing. To him, the room is completely dark.

“The missing vendor hasn’t reappeared. We don’t search. Whoever took him will either return him or not. In the meantime, we do our work.” “Good,” I reply. “Two main topics today: the ‘blind doors’ and the children’s silence protocol.” I place a short list on the table. “‘Blind doors’: we call those inner passages where the wall remembers use but no longer has a function. We don’t open them, we only name and mark them, so if someone outside is ‘searching for rhythm,’ they won’t find a door in their mind.”
