The Merman, My Man
There were mermaids and mermen, but all of them had their eyes gouged out, their belly sliced through, and every organ below their waist removed, leaving two flaps of skin and flesh dangling at their flanks as blue blood continued to trickled down the surgical table, dripping over a large puddle of dried blood.
There was also a pool beside the surgical table containing a messy pile of human corpses, already turning white from being soaked in water as their blood dyed the pool a deep red, while their hair floated over the surface like aquatic weed. The thick scent of drugs permeated the air, slicing at my nerves and Mary’s like a knife, and almost driving Mary and I crazy.
