Chapter 14: Crimson Silk and Silent Gifts Raven woke in fragments. The blue-flame fire still burned without warmth. The velvet bed had cradled her like a grave, deep and dreamless. She surfaced slowly—eyes opening to crimson runes pulsing on the ceiling, body heavy with the kind of exhaustion that clings to the bones. Her travel clothes were stiff with marsh mud and dried sweat; the scent of rot and fear still clung to them. She sat up. The room was quiet in the way only stone and thick walls could make it—absolute, unbroken. No vibrations from distant footsteps, no wind rattling windows. "Bruce. He's twenty. He's seven years older than me almost." "Give it a few years, Heather. He'll grow up by then. You'll see." "I kinda doubt it, but I'll give him a chance I guess. As long as I don't have to 'live with' him." "Now, where's the book you want me to sign?" "On the table." Raven moved both her hands from her lap and quickly found the book. "This is the first one?" Raven asked as her fingers scanned the cover. "Yeah. I have them all, but between new ones, I read the old ones again."

He screams and drops to the floor. “You remember the circle you drew when you were taking my memories,” Raven continues quietly. “You remember the vow you swore when you handed me over to thise monsters.” Her eyes burn silver-blue. “Blood binds both ways.” Raphael claws at his chest. “Raven... please... listen to me...” He coughs again.

I blush while looking over at Raven who approaches me with a few books in hand. “What did you find?” I question while holding up a pair of shorts checking if they will fit. I smiled when I see Rebecca grabbing tank tops in colors, she knows I love. “I found a couple pregnancy books that look good, and I found this one of Viking stories it reminds me of Vaari,” Raven answers while showing me the books and I smile remembering Mummo Adaline and Vaari Jyrki always reading us stories. “They look good, thank you,” I smile while grabbing the story book and open it seeing that it looks like Mummo’s book or at least the illustrations do.

***Liliana’s POV*** I can’t believe the sight in front of me, Raven is now a large blood colored lycan tearing Orin apart. She greedily drinks from him her aura slipping into every enemy vampire surrounding us, bringing them to their knees as they begin to bleed from their eyes, nose, mouth, and ears.

Everyone starts to attack as I drop down to my hands and knees. Blood started to spill from my mouth as I try to breathe. I watch the snow beneath me quickly turn red from the blood pouring from the hole in my chest. Unable to breathe, I look over the fighting as my body quickly grown weak from the blood loss. Seeing the vampire prince knocking the pack warriors around I try to get up, but fall down into the cold bloody snow, unable to hold my weak body up.

***TRIGGER WARNING: Up until now, this story has been fairly tame. From this point forward, Wolfblood takes a dark turn. For those who read the first book of the series, Wolfbane, this book is much darker and deals with more serious, real-world issues.
