I approached slowly, the heels of my boots clicking softly on the polished floor. Drawn like a moth to a flame, I skimmed my fingers across the titles etched on the spines. Tales of kings. Wars. Bloodlines. My gaze caught on a thick, weathered book left open on the desk. Its title was simple: Pack Histories and Blood Betrayals. A cold shiver rippled through me. I leaned over, my shadow swallowing the page, and began to read. At first, it was the usual: chronicles of battles, treaties, ascensions. But then, a word snared me, rooted me in place:

And I froze when the walls became fully visible. My heart stopped. My breath caught in my throat. The walls were covered in something dark, wet and red. Blood! The walls were covered in blood. And words were written on it with blood. Large letters smeared across the concrete. On the wall, written in blood was a message meant only for me. I read them slowly. And each word was like a knife to my heart. "Irina is mine now. No one is coming for you. You will die in that chair, brother!"

"From now on, both of you must learn to protect yourselves. Now go to rest Yve, I will help your mother downstairs on making food for us. If any of you need anything, just call us downstairs alright?" I nodded on her last statement and let her leave the room. I can feel how unfair the world was towards us twins. I can feel the anger seeping through my blood because of this selfish people wanting to take our bloods. Our family. Caden lights the boat. A moment of peace. Then— Explosions. Fireballs erupt from the trees, from the ground, from the sky. Screams erupt again. Humans flood our land with machine guns and war cries, turning sacred ground into a battlefield. Blood spills into the lake as I drag Caden behind cover, the scent of betrayal coating the air. ——— The city burns red with war. I stand soaked in blood, Caden at my side, unshakable. His fire dances across his skin like a crown of vengeance. Behind us, wolves from every pack rise—Alphas, Betas, Warriors. United. Deadly.

It had turned blood red. The real war was just beginning.

As I fell into danger, Jake put up a fight, his limbs ripping. Despite being drenched in blood, he bolted toward me and pounded my attacker on the head. Blood spilled all over the concrete floor, either coming from Jake or the rogue. Anna let out a shriek. It was total mayhem. “Joey!” Anna shouted. Through the madness, a massive black wolf came charging from a distance with incredible speed. I knew that it was Joey, my aloof mate. It never crossed my mind that Joey had shared a mind link with Anna.

That memory haunted him and it always would. A lot of shit haunted Gage. Dead bodies didn’t bother him anymore since the first one he saw had been his mother’s. One day she’d been reading him a story and tucking him into bed after Hunter had already gone to sleep and the next day she was in her bathtub, bleeding out as he watched her. ** “Gage … I’m sorry,” she mumbled. Gage stood next to the bathtub and stroked her hair. The blood ran down her arms and mingled with the water. Her nightdress was soaked through and her breathing was shallow. Gage looked into her eyes and kissed her forehead softly.

“Are you guys ready to finally do as we were formed to do?” My eyes glared at Callighan as he lifted his head up to the sky. Once that loud howl came from him, we all prepared ourselves as the wolves charged at us altogether. All we could do was fight to our hearts desire. One charged at me and right when I thought life was over for me, the gunshots came right after him. Pow! Pow! Pow! Pow! However, those shots were not enough… -To Be Continued- The End of Book 2
