Blossom Bar Rogue River Novels & Stories

We walked into a beautiful clearing where the river in the middle of the forest flowed into a small pond from an overhang with a beautiful waterfall that kept the water running. Flowers were blooming and the whole area was very serene. I just took it all in and never imagined a place like this. “You okay?” Rogan asked as he let go of my hand which made me want to collapse to the ground because his warm sparks weren’t going through me anymore. I still played it cool, “Um yeah it’s just so beautiful here. I didn’t know this place was out here.”

He was smart enough to realize he couldn’t take us all alone. The winds from Gus picked up and I watched on as small tornado formed throughout the trees, picking up rogues and throwing them. I saw roots and vines growing up from nowhere, wrapping around rogue’s legs and throats and knocking them out. But the more fearsome thing I saw, was when the first rogue went up in flames. The flames were neon orange, and contained to one rogue at a time. Despite the heavy rain from my mate, these flames persisted until the rogue died and then moved on to another rogue. I made a mental note not to piss off my mate’s father.

I have enough training under my belt to take on one or two, especially if they're already weakened. I'm pulled out of my thoughts when I hear a feral growl right toward where we're walking, and Tamisra freezes. I see the rogue sniff the air and mentally slap myself for not spraying more anti-scent spray on me, it shouldn't have washed off because we haven't been in any water, but clearly, this rogue smells something. We're practically not breathing when he starts sniffing the area, coming up right to where we're hidden. I brace myself for a fight when another rogue jumps out of the bush across from us onto this one, and a brutal fight starts.

I ease off the accelerator and finally slow the car down, my knuckles pale from gripping the wheel too tightly for hours. That is when I spot a weathered wooden sign half-swallowed by vines, swinging slightly in the breeze. "Blackthorn Tavern. It is every Rogue’s Pleasure Spot." The sign reads and I scoff. Of course a filthy, dangerous looking rogue bar in the middle of nowhere just had to appear like my identity crisis.... I dart at the place for a few seconds before making a decision. The place looks like a kind of place no sane, wolfless person would dare to enter alone.

We drive for hours, passing several bus stations before I am sure I am far enough that they cannot find me. “Are you sure about this?” Jess says as she pulls up to the bus station. Chewing on my bottom lip, I nod my head. “I do not have a choice. My mom is getting sicker. I have to put as much distance between us as I can.” Jess is the only person outside of my family that knows what I am. “I Ella Black of both the Red River Pack and the Silver Wolf Pack, break ties with both packs and declare myself rogue.” The bond between myself and the two packs sever, and it feels like I am being stab in the heart by a silver knife.

They separate and run along the edges of the river basin going downstream. Unlike most of the water in this swamp, which stands still or moves lazily, the rogue chose to attack our pack at the mouth of a river that cuts through the swamp. It leads all the way to the ocean where freshwater meets saltwater. With his dark coat, and the depth of the water, the fast-moving current, the rogue blends in with the river, and he is keeping Wolfe pinned beneath it, making it harder to spot them both. The rogue is going with the flow of the water, not fighting the current, and letting it carry him and his prey downstream rather than aiding us to find them by his movements in the water. My heart was pounding fast and I was no longer sure if I was scared of the rogues around us or of the terrifying display of River’s power. I squinted my eyes and from within the fog, I saw shadowy outlines that were trapped inside his crimson shadow, they were writhing, falling, and then going still as if something about the mysterious smoke was sucking the life out of them. Whatever it was, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to know. River walked towards them like death himself. I could see his golden eyes glowing intensely through the hazy smoke of crimson fog. He grabbed one of the rogues by the neck and a loud snap echoed before the rogue dropped on the ground, lifeless. My stomach churned.

ROSE Shame seared my cheeks. I dropped my gaze and stammered, ‘E-Even so, he doesn’t need anything! He’s an Alpha. Surely he can find his own food!’ And I chewed in a furious rhythm, ignoring the knowing smiles on the couple’s faces as they stole glances. ***** RUM There are no rogues within a twenty-metre radius of the hut…. Even if a rogue slipped into the circle, it would miss the stream and the opening… so the place is safe.

After approximately two hours of walking, she finally reached a river that acted as a natural barrier, separating her from the Rogue Lands. She walked alongside the river, contemplating how she was going to get across. Swimming across was an option, but the water was currently rough and turbulent, making it unsafe for her to attempt. As she carefully surveyed the area for alternative routes, a group of rogues, comprised of both males and females, emerged on the other side of the river from where she stood. Initially taken aback, she resisted the urge to flee and instead stood her ground, curious to see their intentions.

Beyond the gates, the compound opened up. It was bigger than I'd imagined. The main lodge dominated the center — that massive timber-and-stone structure I'd glimpsed from the road — but around it spread a small village. Cabins dotted the hillsides, connected by stone pathways. Training grounds sprawled to the east, obstacle courses and sparring rings visible even from here. To the west, what looked like stables and equipment sheds. Gardens, greenhouses, a building that might have been a school. And everywhere — everywhere — wolves.
