I have about 30 minutes to go. I close my eyes and take a deep breath. I have no idea what I’m walking into, but it’s now or never. I open my eyes and take steps inside. I follow the light with my eyes, but what I see confuses me. I walk to the middle of the room, and my eyes never leave the source of the blue light. What the hell is a crystal orb doing in this house? I flick my eyes at the walls and see talismans, herbs, and other crystals strung up. “See anything interesting?”

One that came from all around. The Sapphire orb, that harbored immense power, gleamed ominously nearby. In a moment of desperation, Lana reached out and touched it, her fingertips tingling with an overwhelming spurt of energy. As the orb responded to her touch, it pulsed with a blinding azure light, illuminating the whole place. "No! What have you done?" Annik yelled in frustration. Suddenly, two remaining lanterns of the orb flared to life, their transcendental flames dancing and crackling with raw power. Lana and Tyler found themselves surrounded by a maelstrom of swirling energies, a storm of light and dark entwined.

The clearer and brighter the glow, the higher the rank of our essence. The girls before me leaned in one by one, their energies spilling into the sphere in soft pulses of blue or green. One particularly bold candidate filled it with a fierce golden light that drew gasps from the crowd. I observed them all carefully so I could understand how the crystal worked and see if it might be manipulated.

The Eyes of Orboro is a collective group of fuckers who search out Vessels from your lineage. They seek to possess those powers so that they can wield them. This amulet conceals your identity. As long as you wear it, they won’t be able to sense your untapped power nor will they be able to home in on your location,” he said. Brynn nodded as he explained, but there was nothing breaking through her exterior that indicated how she was feeling since this was a lot of information that was thrown at her all at once.

She reached into her robes and withdrew a mystical orb, smooth and glasslike, which glowed softly. “A mystical orb, every moon-seer owns one” she said. “It will clear all doubt and confusion.” Arielle’s pulse raced. “I don’t think I should—” “Place your hands on it dear,” Nyra said gently. The room held its breath. Ethan shifted, then stilled. “You don’t have to,” he said, voice tight. “It won’t hurt you,” Nyra assured. Arielle hesitated, then stepped forward.
