Blurry Eyes When I Wake Up Novels & Stories

Diana The world slowly comes into focus as I open my eyes, blinking against the soft morning light filtering through the curtains. For a moment, I feel as though I'm swimming through molasses, my brain foggy and disconnected. The off-white ceiling above me blurs and sharpens in alternating waves as I try to make sense of my surroundings.

Bright lights surround me, too sharp and blinding to bear. I squint, my eyelids fluttering as I try to make sense of my surroundings. Everything feels hazy and disjointed, like I’m caught in a dream I can’t wake up from. I can barely make out what looks like the interior of a room—maybe a bedroom—but the light burns my eyes, making it difficult to see my surroundings clearly. The sting is painful, and it makes my head ache.

Rover pov A cold splash of water wakes me up. I try to open my eyes but my right eye refuses service. The vision in my left eye is blurry and lacks colour. The bitter taste of wolfsbane lingers in my mouth. That explains why my right eye won’t open yet. My head throbs. I try to move, the movement opens a dam of memories to break.

I ignored my body and focused on work because I needed the distraction. My body felt strangely hot when I woke up—my head was pounding, my whole body ached, and even breathing was hard. I tried to turn away and drift back into sleep, wanting to hide from the reality of waking up in this room, but the ambient noise drifting in from the open veranda kept pulling me back to full consciousness. Slowly, I fluttered my eyes open. At first, my vision was incredibly blurry and hazy, a natural consequence of just waking up from a long, deep slumber. But within a few seconds, the fog cleared and everything sharpened into focus.

I stirred on the bed, stretching my limbs with a pop. My eyelids fluttered open, lips parting to release a drawn out yawn, I winced softly, rubbing my exposed tummy. My vision was a bit blurry and I squinted when I turned towards the window, the bright morning light shining in my direction.

Derek's POV Beep. Beep. Beep. My eyes snapped open, and a sharp, blinding wave of pain immediately spiked right behind my forehead. Everything was a blurry, out of focus smudge for a second, the morning light coming through the window hurting my retinas until my vision finally sharpened.

I really don't want to wake up yet, not only because of what’s going on with my body but also because I am still sleepy, and for an unknown reason again, I feel really tired even though I just woke up. But that warm and bright feeling on my face just wouldn't go away, so even if I wanted to go back to dreamland, that bright feeling wouldn't let me, forcing me to be fully awake. BLAISE It’s cold. I blink, eyelids heavy. The right underside of my neck aches with a dull pain, as if I’d slept on it wrong last night. There are blurs of gold, lines streaking vertically across my vision. I blink again, eyes creasing together. The lines slowly come into focus. At first, I’d thought that I was dreaming.

My vision is blurry and drool sticks to the side of my mouth, training down my cheek and dropping to the white sheets under me. I moan, wiping it off with the back of my hands as I blink repeatedly, trying to chase away the urge to drop back onto the bed and sleep. And that's when it hits me. I have to get to work. “Shit," I curse under my breath as my eyes instantly fly open, every trace of slumber leaving. I place my palm on the bed and force myself to sit up immediately, my heart jumping into my throat. I throw the covers aside, crawling off the bed as one thought continues to play in my mind–
