_Aria’s POV_ I woke up slowly as if I were being pulled out of deep water. My head hurt. It was not a sharp pain but a heavy one like something was pressing down on my skull from the inside. My body felt weak. Every limb felt like it was filled with sand. Even breathing felt like work. I tried to open my eyes. At first, I could only see light. White and pale shapes swam in front of me. My vision was blurry and unfocused. I blinked once. Then again. The shapes slowly began to settle.

For the first time in my whole life, I was truly alone. I begged my eyelids to open, just a crack, anything. It was as if I was ripping the sensitive skin of my eyelids open. Finally, I managed to pry my eyelids partially open. The world surrounding me was dark hazy and unrelenting. I couldn’t focus on anything; my vision was blurred and spun. “Dammit, how are you awake already?” Hodges gravely tones assault my ears like nails on a chalkboard.

Did I spend two hours staring at the wall? F*ck, I didn’t want to get up. No, I could still get some sleep. Just when I cuddled into the bed, Carissa got up, stretching her hands and yawning so widely that I could smell her morning breath. “Is it morning already?” she said, looking around for her glasses. She had this rare eye disorder. At least for an hour after waking up, she’d be temporarily blind and wouldn’t be able to see anything so she had these special glasses. She’d need to wear it for this one hour to see before her eyes returned to normal.

His head kept lolling back and forth as he tried to keep it steady, the whole room was spinning, as if he was sitting on a ferris wheel and someone was pushing him, but this felt much more intense and worse, his head was heavy and light at the same time. He kept narrowing and squinting his eyes trying to make out the silhouette in front of him but it was of no use because the more he tried, the more the image blurred and looked thin like a stripper's dancing pole. I think, groaning as I crack the bones in my neck and focus my attention back on the road that has the outhouse on its end. My vision sharpens even more as time sneaks by, and I blink rapidly to adjust to a view without minute smudges or blurs. It works, but the lightness in my head does not disappear. Mikael had commented that whatever I'd been given after I fell unconscious was the reason for my blurred vision. So, I'm pretty sure the theory also applies to my faint dizziness.

The first thing I remember is laying on that bed with my arms flat against my sides and how difficult it felt trying to open my eyes. I felt as if I needed help opening my eyes. And when I did open them, it required energy to open them up again after each blink. What I saw was blurry. Silhouettes of people gathered around me. I didn't see their faces clearly, but I could sense that they were agitated, turning to their sides and looking at one another from time to time.

Nothing deep or serious enough to cause any scar. I would have to give it to whoever did the work for knowing just what to do, because when I opened my eyes, I didn’t feel any head pain or even a headache. The blurry sight was as a result of keeping my eyes shut for a while. From the brightness of the weather outside, I could tell that it was already dawn, although I couldn’t tell what time it was. Right now, I didn’t feel any pain, but I just wanted to lay here and try to get rid of all my head thought about when I was passed out.

I have to wake up early for my chores tomorrow so I have to go to bed early as well. I don't care if he disagrees, I'll just have to find a way to convince him. I'm so tired at the moment. After taking the decision, I stood up to go meet him but nearly fell back down as my vision blurred uncontrollably, my eyes feeling like they had rolled to the back of my head. Confusion and consciousness seems to collapse over me at the awakening of my eyes. The display appears foggy and blurry and as if the world becomes nothing but a Merry-go-round—spinning and spinning, until it finally reaches to the point of my clear vision. A sting quickly triggers the nerves above my eyes as if it's my brows that somehow caused it. My body feels weak and dead and as if I've been in a coma longer than I have ever lived. As if heavy weights laid organized in every part of my body, except for my head. My spine feels stiff because with every effort I give to sit down, I just end up in a series of helpless gasps.
