BLAISE It’s cold. I blink, eyelids heavy. The right underside of my neck aches with a dull pain, as if I’d slept on it wrong last night. There are blurs of gold, lines streaking vertically across my vision. I blink again, eyes creasing together. The lines slowly come into focus. At first, I’d thought that I was dreaming.

IRIS I wake up because something is shaking. Not gentle shaking, like when Mommy tries to wake me up for school and says, “Rise and shine, sleepyhead.” This is rough. Like someone grabbed my shoulder and moved me too fast. My head hurts. My eyes feel sticky. My mouth tastes like when I forget to brush my teeth after eating candy. Everything is blurry. Everything is loud.

Sofiya I woke up with a terrible headache and vision so blurry that I could only see a person standing over me. I closed my eyes to try to get some of the tension out of my head, but that made things worse. The figure started to talk, and then it crouched down and moved toward me.

Sitting on my bed, I felt a dull pain on my forehead as I creased it gently. My vision blurred as I closed my eyes, breathing in and out softly. I opened my eyes yet again as I tried to rub away the sleep fogging my vision. It felt as if I had slept forever.

Red’s POV It's hard to wake up first thing in the morning... Let alone with a fuzzy head and a hangover. I rolled over and looked for my glasses, they weren't there. Grumbling, and with a very full bladder, I sat up and looked around.. Got to find them damn glasses I thought, as the world came into focus. While this wasn't the first time I'd lost my glasses, I was sure that this was the first time I had seen this room.

No one responds. My vision is blurred, something I'd grown used to. This time it felt different. Like a mist covering my eyes but not touching my skin. I blink several times, waiting for the dizziness that usually accompanies the action. It doesn't come. I hesitate before bringing a hand up to wipe at my eyes. The movement is sluggish; and my arm stings but it doesn't feel heavy. I'd grown used to the heaviness of my own body, I realize. An ache does form, greater than I've felt in awhile. It stretches across the muscles of my arm, accompanying the sting from my healing injury. My eyes hurt as I drag a fist over the lids but my vision clears. Clearer than I've felt in who knows how long.

I really don't want to wake up yet, not only because of what’s going on with my body but also because I am still sleepy, and for an unknown reason again, I feel really tired even though I just woke up. But that warm and bright feeling on my face just wouldn't go away, so even if I wanted to go back to dreamland, that bright feeling wouldn't let me, forcing me to be fully awake. With a still-creased forehead, I groggily opened my eyes with my heavy hands still on top of them to serve as a shield for my eyes from something bright. When I wake up, it feels as though I've been hit by a ton of bricks. My head is dizzy, and my vision blurry. The events leading up to this are foggy. I don't understand where I am, or what happened. I try to move my hands, which is when I noticed that I'm chained to a bed. I attempt to sit up, but my head begins to spin, forcing me back onto the bed. I try to look around the room for any clues. But my vision is so blurry, that it's hard to distinguish anything familiar.

I close and open my eyes a few times, trying to force myself to stay awake and focus on the fight. However, the dark black spots are slowly creeping through my vision, making the blurry figures even worse. I don’t know how long they were fighting for and as they were both really blurry, I tried to move back as one of the blurry figures started walking back toward me, not knowing which one won.

CALI I woke up with my eyes blurred at first, there was nothing but a haze of light and shadow. Slowly, painfully, my eyelids fluttered open fully. A sharp ray of sunlight pierced straight through the window and straight into my skull. I groaned. I was sure I had never opened my window this wide. I hated too much light in the morning.
