Book Pause Novels & Stories

The buzzer of my apartment sounds for the umpteenth time and I groan, reluctantly removing my arms from around the woman lying next to me. Looking at the clock I see it's just after ten and I groan again in annoyance. "Who the hell is it so early in the morning." Getting up, I stop my movements as the buzzer goes again and she moans getting up slightly. Fuck. "No, no. Go back to bed." Caressing her head, I try soothing her back to sleep. Moaning, she rolls over; her breathing evening out again. Walking down the hall, I'm greeted by Williams' face through the buzzer camera. Of course.

I looked at my window outside and all buses are aligned and stopped. " Listen everyone. There's a problem but don't you worry, we will fix this as soon as we can. Our principal said, we will find the nearest hotels here for us to stay in tonight. There had been a misunderstanding about our camping. So apparently, it is not scheduled today. The camping site is closed for some reason. Our camping is postponed, we will be going there tomorrow. For now, we will be staying in a hotel and we will update your parents for this." Mr. Davin announced it disappointedly. It seems he's nervous though because he's worried. But school will take care of it as he said. I'm going for a single room and I'll ju

"I've been trying to figure out what next from here but I haven't..." I paused mid-sentence. Shit. I shouldn't have paused. The pause made it obvious that there was something I wasn't saying. "Wait." Jenny's voice immediately sharpened with interest. "What was that pause?" "Oh, nothing. Just thinking." "Nia." "It's really nothing." "That was not a nothing pause. That was a something pause." I could hear her sitting up straighter, could picture her setting down her wine glass to give me her full attention. "What aren't you telling me?"

In her hand was an iPad with its screen lit up displaying a paused video that was playing on YouTube. "Oh... Thank you. How do I press play?" I asked taking it from her. "Right here." She said gesturing at the middle of the screen where a triangle in a circle was. She pressed the circle thereby pressing the triangle and the video started playing. "If you need to pause to listen or do what she said, just double tap the screen.", She said and I nodded. "Oh..." "If that is all, may I take my leave?" She asked and I nodded my head too engrossed in the screen to even say anything in return.

Harmony I was trying to prevent myself from shaking while I was staring at my laptop. I don’t know what to feel about a post on Friendbook related to me. While I was trying to calm down, I continued to stare at a photo posted with a mocking caption. It was me, standing on a stage while in the midst of holding back my tears. The caption says, "Wow, look at your dumb rich girl stuttering through a debate. Is that all you can do? "

She passed the first data relay panel without stopping. Didn’t touch it. Didn’t gesture. Didn’t glance twice. The screen, halfway through a rotation, paused mid-scroll. Held still until she turned the corner. Then resumed. No voice log activated. No environmental trigger registered. But a new code tag appeared in the system’s backend: :: NONVERBAL PRESENCE SIGNAL – TYPE: VALE :: COMMENT: **PAUSE INITIATED BY USER STILLNESS INTERPRETED AS HOLD.

I asks. “What happened next is that, hahahaah, sorry, it’s just so funny when I remember it. Uhm, hahaha so yeah, She protest in front of the director’s office without knowing that there is a meeting going on that time. All alone, she rally in front of the door” he said. What the… hahahahaha she did that? She just made herself embarrassed. “And you know what’s even funnier? She’s holding a huge Bluetooth speaker then she played the d******d voices of those who rally in Youtube as her background noise. So that it would look like there are a lot of people rallying in front of the director’s office,” he said.

"Slap!" Immediately the sound of a slap resounded in the whole hall behind the stage. The surrounding people all could not help getting a gasp. For a moment, the tense but little noisy hall suddenly fell silent. Litzy couldn't believe that and covered her cheek with a hand, tears immediately uncontrollably flowing out. "Ms Hamilton, why do you slap me?" "Zoe Brown, go and install the PPT." Anna calmly withdrew her palm in little pain, staring at the woman in front of her with burning eyes, and commanded with cold voice.

It was probably not intentional but at the same time they needed to be very particular about what needed to be done. There were a few laps here and there, and if I had any sense, I needed to go as fast as possible making sure that there was nothing holding me back but the time I decided to go out on with my actions. "I'm sorry to announce to you but we have to put a pause on whatever we have been doing. It's not because we cannot afford to go in with it but because we do not want any more complications than necessary. For you it might seem normal but for a lot of people it's not." Terrence spoke.

It is a statement. A demand. I hold his gaze. “I’m trying to be.” That is the best I can give him. The ship pulses around us. Stronger now. The light intensifies. The space itself feels tighter, more focused. Integration entering final phase. The words echo through everything. Matteo raises a hand. “I would like to officially request a pause button.” Denied. “Yeah, figured.” Ezra does not move. “Can you stop it,” he asks again. I shake my head.
