Book Picking Up The Pieces Novels & Stories

I scrape away items off one of the tables and pull out the box, emptying the torn pieces of paper onto the workspace. Step by step, piece by piece, like a child’s puzzle set, I connect the pages, reconnecting torn words and linking the shredded pieces. Soon I have reassembled the entire page. Satisfied, I read through it carefully, my eyes growing wider as they trail down the page.

As I'm done writing, I headed towards the small library in there and lay my things beside as I grabbed a book to read. Finding the one I like seems to be higher than I thought and although I'm tall it's not enough to reach the book. So I keept reaching it. Some books would fall down but luckily I've got quick response so it wouldn't be a mess. I was ready to give up when suddenly a hand stretched out to reach the book I wanted. Is it him? Maybe. I slowly turn muself around and look at the person who got it. "Jerk"....I didn't even know how that word came out my mouth.

And then again, who was he leaving a message for? The questions made my head pound as I eyed everything in concentration. But then I saw it. I saw what I was looking for. Everything in the small library was neatly positioned, not a book out of place. But in the corner sat a shelf with a section that had nothing but encyclopedias. However, stuffed between a book was a small book--a novel maybe. It could've been overlooked by anyone, but since I was so observant, I didn't miss it.
