Book Stuck In Neutral Novels & Stories

Ink rivers reversed course again, all flowing toward a single point near the far end of the field. Bookshelves shuddered and dragged themselves into a rough circle around that point, pages tearing free of their bindings to spin inward, a papery storm. The bus—its outline faint in the mist beyond—flickered on one of the headstone faces like a screen, then off again. “All right,” Jax said. “Pretty sure it noticed.” “No kidding,” I muttered. From the center of that whirlwind of books and ink and stone, something rose. At first, it was just… mass.

"Oh heck no!" The twins are evil. "Relax, this will help you to keep your posture on and to keep you busy." Dan reassured me and muttered the last part more to himself as he placed a book on top of my head. The book felt heavy on my head as the weight pressed. It was a thick leather bound book. It seemed old because the pages were already yellow. "Now try walking while balancing that book on your head." Ren commanded. It has a small LCD screen and a thumb wheel with a button in the middle of it. I

I'm so distracted by my thoughts that I don't notice that there's something just under my bed until I accidentally kick it. What was that? It was hard. I get on my knees and look. My eyes find a book, leather-bound and thick, yet small compared to the others. I know this book. It's the one that got me suspended for two weeks. The book about the Emberborns. I had never understood why Eleanor kept such an ugly piece of furniture in her pristine study.
