Arian's pov I never thought a book club meeting could feel like a battlefield. Today, we are reading The Art of Forbidden by Linda Lively, and from the very moment I flipped through its pages, my face had been hot. The story is about a powerful president who was secretly in love with his male secretary, and if that wasn’t bold enough, the prose was filled with intimacy, longing, and heat. Naturally, everyone thought it would be for people to take turns reading aloud. But I wasn't really in the mood to read, not after what the police said to me.

Kyle opened it quickly and swirled inside. Aidan was sat at his desk. He swiveled in his chair and gasped when he saw Kyle standing there. “Can I help you?” he said, adjusting his glasses. Kyle pulled up a spare chair and sat himself down, his face uncomfortably close to Aidan’s. “As a matter of fact, you can,” he said. He smirked as Aidan leaned back, trying to get some space between them. It was then that Kyle noticed the book that lay open on Aidan’s desk. "Suit yourself," she muttered to herself. Then, still in the same careless manner in which she had arrived, she walked from the study, leaving behind in it the turmoil of her being.
