Columns of faint silver light rose from the floor, rearranging the void until the space resembled something between a courtroom and a cathedral. At the center, a plinth formed. On it rested a book. It wasn’t the Great Ledger. It was a derivative. Smaller. Thinner. Personalized. My name wasn't written on the cover; it was embedded into the leather, as if the book had grown around the letters. I approached without hesitation. Each step felt lighter than the last, as if gravity were a luxury the system was slowly taking back. It was filled with thick books with different sizes, but some are notebooks and photo albums displayed with some cute decorations that mostly were handmades. But as I take books from there places, I accidentally pushed the music box where a carousel was attached at the top of it. The bookshelf was high and so does the area where the music box was placed. This causes it to shatter into big pieces when it fell on the floor which causes a loud noise that lingered through the every corner of the silent room.

Ice Demon City's library wouldn't be empty for long. As we continued our exploration, Mason took the lead on the second floor, which was similarly filled with vacant bookshelves, chairs, and tables. I also noticed two sizable rooms situated adjacent to the staircase. However, it was the fifth floor that truly piqued our interest. In this area, we discovered two impressive metallic structures resting on a sturdy stone table. The first one was constructed from smaller metallic blocks, each adorned with finely carved letters. This device was intended for the purpose of book writing.

I don’t try touching it again. Closing the box, I approach the shelves. I take out the book closest to me. Brushing off the dust, I realize it’s a strategy book, written in delicate penmanship. The paper is fragile, but the tome is bound with great care. The other side of the shelf seems to have hard-bound journals. It’s like an entire couple’s life secured in one small room. I hear a scraping sound, and I turn my head to see Robert picking up a stack of small portraits from one of the iron boxes in the corner.

I pressed lightly against one of the books. Nothing. I tried another. Still nothing. “Maybe it’s not the books,” Jacob said. “Then what?” He leaned closer, examining the wood itself. “Back panel,” he murmured. I blinked. “What?” “Sometimes compartments aren’t in the books,” he said. “They’re behind them.” My heart started pounding faster. “Help me,” I said. We began pulling books out carefully. One by one. Stacking them on the floor. The shelf slowly emptied. My hands moved faster now.

It wasn’t anything like the libraries in Gabriel and Raphael’s estates but this room was beautiful in its own dark haunted way. I picked the one that had caught my attention because of Mario, The Art of War, and tucked it beneath my arm as I went through other books. When I picked up one of the heavy books that was on the top shelf which looked like no one had ever read it or even moved it from its place from the dust that was gathered in its cover, I cleaned it with my palm and realized that it wasn’t a book but a journal. There was one more. I picked it up too. I sat down on the floor and opened the journal first.

Whoa, magnificent. Shaped like an octagon, the room was filled from floor to ceiling in books. Every self-piled high with books upon books. Scanning the room I can’t help but notice multiple ladders and even a spiral staircase which led to a small little reading nook. Smiling, I knew exactly where I would spend most of my days.

Tears of joy started to well in her eyes again. “Our room is just there.” He nodded to the door to the right of the room. Of course she started walking towards it and found that one of her steps sunk in just a little more than the rest of the flooring. “Hmm.” She took her weight off and placed it down again kind of bouncing her weight. “What?” Robert crossed the room to her observing the ground. “The floor seems off here. No big deal it’s probably just the house settling. I will worry about it in the morning.” She assured him.

Hana has a right to all floors except the 5th floor. Hana walked around the 1st floor but still couldn't find the book she needed. She went up to the 2nd floor, glided through the 3rd floor, and then stopped at the 4th floor. Hana noticed the two books at the end of the range; it seemed like they were old books that had been abandoned for quite some time. The first book is titled 15 types of magic and relationships. The second book is called the art of combining magic. Hana grabbed two books and sat avidly reading.
