Beep! Beep! “Two books?” a bespectacled stern lady asked from behind the counter as the jock searched for his seldom-used library card. Already, the middle-aged librarian could tell these books weren’t going to be read. If anything, they would be used as a ‘reference’ for ‘studying’. If the blushing girl beside the jock was any indication, the date idea was hers.

Each chandelier held within it a dancing flame, casting flickering shadows upon the shelves of books that stretched as far as the eye could see. The shelves were made of intricately carved marble, adorned with scrolls and books, and delicate filigree. And then the library doors open and close with a boom, echoing throughout the entire room. Alice and I both jump, and she quickly shoves the book into her cloak.

Emma stepped into the bookstore like she was entering a chapel. The bell above the door chimed softly, and the familiar scent of old pages and new bindings wrapped around her like a blanket.
