There was a leather couch in the corner, a bar cart with expensive-looking bottles of whiskey, and a window that overlooked the estate grounds. It was the kind of room that screamed power and control. The kind of room that belonged to a man like Jonathan Hart. I walked over to the bookshelves, running my fingers along the spines. Most of them were business books, biographies of CEOs and politicians, a few on philosophy. Then I noticed something odd. One of the shelves looked… different. Like it didn’t quite sit flush with the wall. I reached out and pressed against it gently. There was a soft click, and the shelf swung inward.

The shelves curve gracefully along the inner walls of the chamber, following the natural contours of the wood, each one laden with volumes of ancient lore and mystical knowledge. The books that line the shelves are a treasure trove of wisdom, collected over centuries by the Earth Goddess and Theo as they journeyed through the realms of magic and mystery. I don’t know what I thought wolf shifters did with their time, but I never considered they’d be avid readers or historians. But this room shows me they are, with its walls stacked to the ceiling with mahogany bookshelves, their ends carved just as intricately as the doors coming in. The center of each floor contained tall shelves filled with the newer, more popular and useful books. The third and fourth floors were as different from those below as night was from day. These were called the “stacks” and contained tens of thousands of old books that were rarely, if ever used. Leesa had never had any reason to venture up into the stacks, but apparently Cali had, because she led Leesa through an old wooden door into a dimly lit stairway at the far end of the first floor and guided her up to the fourth floor.

The room was also, unexpectedly and completely, full of books. Every wall that was not a window had shelves, floor to ceiling, built-in rather than assembled, the kind that suggested the apartment had been configured around the books rather than the other way around. Fiction and non-fiction shelved together without obvious system. Spines facing out. Some with markers in them. Many with the cracked spines of books that had been read multiple times and had stopped pretending to be new.

There were four shelves filled with books, two shelves at either side of the room with a reading space in the middle. There were two tables, each one had four chairs. A curtain blocked the sunlight from entering the room from the windows. I looked at the shelves eagerly, wondering the books I'll find. I love reading and reading e-books on my phone but nothing could beat paperbacks. I fought the urge to take a book and continued my exploration. The other rooms I found were just bedrooms. I looked at Byron's side and saw a room right by his own. I turned the knob and realized it was locked. I didn't pry and went to the last room.

Pulling the dust covering away from his latest creation, he tossed the cloth to the floor. In front of him stood a large bookshelf. It was about nine feet tall and six feet wide. It had six shelves on it, divided in the middle as it was two different bookcases. He had made it into two pieces to male it easier to transport, but they attached together and formed one large bookshelf. It was dark wood and it had ornate hand carved modling around the frame.

The room looked ancient and inviting. There were spiral staircases on either side of the room encased in wooden railings. There were rows upon rows of bookshelves, at intervals, there were white marble benches. There were millions of books in the library but most of them were behind bars. It was as if an imaginary line was sketched. On the bottom shelf, the books were left open to read and on the above shelves, they were in bars. "Why are most of the books behind bars, they look like they are imprisoned," I exclaimed surprised at seeing books in bars for the first time.

Changing personalities from time to time. When I flipped into the other pages, it suddenly vanished just in a snap and when I turned my head up, our strict librarian was already in front of me holding the book I recently read on his right hand. She raised an eyebrows to me and rolled her eyes after. If we're not allowed to read it then they should keep it in the private area. How can they keep such a private book in the public shelves? Boxes were stacked in the center of the space, and a drop-cloth, step ladder, and what looked like a can of stain were pushed against one of the walls of empty shelves.
