The wind habitat looked very big and had a lot of beasts everywhere. The beast cubs were always with their mothers. The mother beasts were either tamed by the ones who caught them or beasts which were grown specifically for breeding, so they were made to be obedient to people who come to take their cubs so that they don't harm the people who try to take the cubs.

I am staring at a fucking white tiger, a black panther, and a large solid black wolf. No wonder no one wants to try and sneak onto the land. Forget the high tech security system they have. These three beasts are enough to keep you away. “How in the hell did they even get these beasts?” I ask.

And slowly even the skies came alive. That seems to excite her for some reason. The avid calm observant student was gone. A small kid given a cup of ice cream replaced it.

Even the wind seemed to dance with relief, carrying the scent of fresh earth, melting snow, and distant wildflowers. From the forested hills and rolling plains, faint stirrings began. Birds lifted into the sky in irregular flocks, their calls sharp and jubilant, a chorus of natural applause. Wolves lifted their heads, ears twitching, noses sniffing the shifting air. Somewhere, a fox dashed through underbrush, pausing mid-leap to sniff the breeze that carried hints of freedom. It was subtle at first, almost imperceptible, but gradually, the world began to awaken.

None of them seem directed at me, simple chattering like the pup did. The bag he carried opened and pulled out some sort of bark. He cracked it in half and held it out for me. I cocked my head to the side. Sniffing it, it smelled like meat, but it didn’t look like meat. The other part he cracked went into his mouth and he chewed. If this is what they ate, it made sense why the beasts came into the forest to hunt.

Feigning concern, I stopped abruptly and warned, "We can't go any further. The bear is nursing her cubs up ahead. If we intrude, it'll see us as a threat and attack." Bonnie looked unconcerned, even excited. It was clear she lacked even basic wilderness knowledge. She scoffed. "Kate, you're too timid. What's there to be afraid of? This is a rare sight. Of course, we have to capture it on camera. Right, Damon?" Damon gave her a doting smile. "This is why we came, after all. We can't miss it." I forced myself to explain calmly, "Nursing animals are highly territorial. If provoked, they won't hesitate to attack. The consequences could be deadly."

"We picked up a wild boar on the way back. The kind that roams the mountains—mean as hell." The security guard's eyes widened. "A wild boar? Oh man, those things can fight tigers! You're incredible, Mr. Lloyd!" Andrew nodded seriously. "You should probably call a few guys over before opening the trunk. Don't want it going berserk on you. By the way, wild boar meat is amazing—great for BBQ. You guys should clean it up for me, and I'll treat everyone to a feast later." The security guard grinned so wide his cheeks practically split. "Haha! Mr. Lloyd, you're the best! Leave it to us!"

I kept on asking questions and I felt Mabel would really feel I was crazy. “It’s not like that My Lady, let me explain”. She said and I bade her go on. “Okay so the wild bears only come out during the spring, apparently they came from the north where they leave, to our residences and we had to chase them off.” She explained in details, hoping I understood. “Oh i see, that must have been so much fun.” I said as I tried to keep the conversation going. “Yeah it was, we rode on horses and chased them back up north, with the help of our wild dogs too.” The story started becoming more lively and interesting.

She gave Ashleigh's hand an affectionate pat. She enjoyed talking to the ladies. Their slow country accents made her feel right at home. As it grew dark they began to tell ghost stories. Mr. Jameson found his way to the porch and seemed alert. He gave her a hug and actually remembered to call her Ashleigh. "You be sure to stay with someone and don't go off in the woods by yourself. There are wildcats around here." "Okay." What the hell was a wildcat? Was it like a cougar? She didn't ask, she would just stay out of the woods.
