Unconsciously I looked at my closed door and windows and sighed, turning back to his text. What was I supposed to type? 'Hey I'm moisturizing my naked body, come over.'? No thanks! 'Nothing much, you?' was what I ended up typing, even though I hated it when someone replied to me with nothing much. Like seriously? Nothing? Blackmailer-'Breathing *tongue out*, seriously nothing? You're boring.' The last two words did something to me. Made me want to prove that I wasn't boring. Because there's nothing worse than being called boring. Boring is discernibly not a depiction anyone would want to fit in. I am fracking awesome!

After I eat the worst breakfast I've ever eaten in my entire life, I find myself in the most lost, bored state of my life. This is not a condition I'm familiar with. I don't get bored. I have never, as an adult, had nothing to do—there is always something requiring my attention. There is always a problem to solve or a decision to make or someone waiting on my response. I should be drifting off, but my mind is still buzzing, still reaching for something to hold onto. “I can’t sleep,” I admit after a few minutes. “My brain won’t stop.” “What do you need?” “Tell me something. Something that isn’t about councils or threats or ex-girlfriends or Nathaniel.” I shift closer, pressing my face against his chest. “Something to quiet my head.” “I don’t do stories.” “Then make one up. Something boring enough to knock me out.” The sound he makes might be a laugh. Might just be an exhale. Hard to tell with Knox.
