The sun was beginning to set as Harper waved goodbye to Adeline, who stood at the entrance of the boutique, grinning like the cat that ate the canary. “Take care of her, Eros,” Adeline called out, her voice teasing. “She’s a treasure. And don’t forget, Harper, if he annoys you too much, call me. I’ll deal with him.”
Harper laughed, adjusting the numerous shopping bags dangling from her arms. “Thanks, Adeline. I might just take you up on that.”
