The Unbroken Glow

The Unbroken Glow

Seven years of love and labor—all washed away in a moment. With it, my last shred of fondness for that house evaporated. Jeffrey Shaw, alerted by the noise, stepped out from his study. He did not even glance at the wound on my head. His first words were an accusation. "Elaine's been sobbing non-stop. You owe her an apology." The irony made me want to laugh. "Why should I? That mystical bracelet is a treasure passed down in my family. Aren't you aware of that?" Jeffrey's brow furrowed, his annoyance evident.

Broken Inside

Broken Inside

It was 8:30am. "I have to go check on Noel.." I mumbled. I got up from bed and brushed my teeth and headed out of my room. I stopped in my tracks when I noticed Hazel sleeping peacefully on the couch in the living room with a book in her hand. "Did she fall asleep while reading?" I smiled and walked towards her. On my way, I ended up bumping into the marble vase on the table beside her and it shattered on the floor with a loud clank. Surprised by the loud noise, Hazel woke up and stared at me, and then at the floor where the broken pieces laid.

The Gift Of Rejection

The Gift Of Rejection

She had turned a mistake into a miracle. I poured another drink, my hand steadying slightly. I couldn't use force. I couldn't use lawyers. I couldn't use money. I had to use the one thing I had never used with Evelyn. Humility. I walked to the window again, looking in the direction they had gone. They were probably in a cab now, heading back to that hotel, packing their bags to flee back to Manchester. Back to the obscurity where she felt safe. "You can't run, Evelyn," I whispered to the glass. "Not anymore."

BROKEN BY MY STEPBROTHER

BROKEN BY MY STEPBROTHER

Miles POV The rest of the evening was torture. After unpacking a few boxes and putting some of my clothes away, I stayed in my room for nearly an hour trying to calm down, but every time I started feeling slightly better, I remembered Ryan’s face when he had grabbed my collar and threatened me, and my stomach immediately twisted all over again. A soft knock eventually came from my bedroom door. “Miles?” I recognized my mother’s voice immediately. “Yeah?” I answered.

The Lover of a Billionaire

The Lover of a Billionaire

Evelyn’s POV The morning air was quiet, but my heart wasn’t. I barely slept through the night. My pillow was soaked with silent tears, and my eyes were sore. I had made up my mind. I would collect the divorce papers today. My lawyer had called earlier and said everything was ready. All I had to do was show up and take them. I stood in front of the mirror, brushing my hair slowly. I didn’t even recognize the woman staring back. My skin was pale. My lips were dry. The scar on my cheek… I used to hide it with

SHATTERED BY CHOICE

SHATTERED BY CHOICE

Emails, screenshots, photos, and one audio file labeled "Mirabel Confession." I looked at Evelyn. She was staring at Sylvia like she didn't know whether to thank her or hit her. "Why now?" Evelyn asked. "Why come back now and give us this?" "Because my mother almost died in that car accident. And sitting in that hospital, watching her sleep, I realized life is too short to keep holding on to lies." Sylvia's voice cracked a little. "I don't want to be the person who stays silent while people I used to care about destroy themselves over something that wasn't their fault."

The Billionaire Ex-Wife’s Scandalous Revenge

The Billionaire Ex-Wife’s Scandalous Revenge

As if the headlines were verdicts and the public had already delivered judgment. My eyes welled instantly. The tears burned, sharp and humiliating, pooling at my lash line. I blinked rapidly, over and over, refusing to let them spill. Not while she was listening. Not while she wanted that reaction. I would not give her the satisfaction of hearing my weakness. Clara moved closer, her hand gently patting my back in steady, comforting strokes. Slow. Reassuring. A silent reminder to breathe. Inhale. Exhale. “You are nothing but a home breaker,” Evelyn continued, her voice lowering into something colder, more controlled, and somehow more cruel. “You came into my son’s life and brought nothing but

World of Tomorrow

World of Tomorrow

“But my father just ran off and left us when the market crashed. Your parents died together, side by side in the hospital fighting flu together. Your aunt lost her one true love to it and never sought another. You’ll fall in love, if one of us will.” As Lily tore the packet of powdered cheese open, adding it to the pan, Evelyn rose. “I need to get the rest of my laundry. Let’s eat by the radio when I get back.” Leaving her apartment, Evelyn brooded all the way into the basement. Mr. Kittrels was gone, having finished banking the furnace for the night, but he’d left his cup by the agitator, with a coal smudged ‘thank you’ written on the floor. Smiling, Evelyn scuffed the message away with her

I've barely been able to put this story down. I absolutely love it. I love how descriptive the story is. And it has made me want to have been able to go to that World's Fair. It is a beautiful love story and I can't wait to finish it.

I am only to Chapter 22, but this book is Amazing so far and by far my favorite. I love historical fiction and this piece is a gem. I read the Author's book about Grace and Juliet and just had to jump right into this one as some characters are the same.
