Rena grabbed my hand and dragged me into the restaurant. “Cally already got us a table!” I kept getting stared at by other people. “Kane, did I do something? Why is everyone staring at us?” He grabbed a napkin and handed it to me. “No doll. It’s not that you did something wrong, but they can all see my mark on your neck. Luckily Byron and Gabes marks are a little lower so the shirt hides them. Can’t give that away yet. Also your mark on me is Purple now so very visible and not a common color for a mark to be. Usually only purebloods, or likens have purple. But knowing what pack and who your father is we can rule both of those things out.”

I chuckled at my little mate. "Xavier, get up." Despite her words she moved closer to me and let her head rest on my chest. "And why should I?" She moved to where her beautiful brown eyes stared into my green ones. Her eyes were beautiful. Three different shades of brown all melted together. The outer ring was a coffee brown while the middle one was so dark that it was almost black. Just almost. The inner ring of brown was like a caramel brown. Then right before her pupil was a light shade of green and blue, all morphed to fit into one ring.

I unbuttoned the knitted turtleneck I was wearing and brushed my hair back to reveal the base of my neck. The color is still almost blackish gray and is now widening until it almost spreads to my collarbone. The purple streaks that surrounded it were also getting longer, this strangebruise seemed to be growing inside me. I'm still not entirely sure but deep inside I can guess what's triggering these growths of bruises and scars ... Alex.

I took the opportunity to gaze at his coloring. He was a mixture of browns that almost seemed orange, maybe they would be in the light of day. It was pretty dark out here. He had many black stripes with a bit of white. He looked so soft and cuddly, yet I knew he could kill me in less than a heartbeat.

Brice was standing next to my table, wearing a lavender shirt with a purple tie. I had noticed earlier that Starla’s dress was purple. I had absently wondered if that was the color I’d see if she was part of my pack. Raven’s eyes are violet, so I have a shade of purple already in the river, but the color Starla was wearing was different. It was the sort of purple one associates with royalty. And Brice, standing there looking at me expectantly, wearing a similar shade, looked more like a prince than I had ever seen him look like one before.
