Coral playfully patted his arm and looked up at Jacob who watched them both with a tense glare. Coral quickly shifted her glance to me with a wide smile. “And you! You must be Cassie! I’ve heard so much about you.” She stepped forward with an extended hand but I didn’t put mine out. Laura, Lincoln, and Jacob were all a little surprised by this. “It’s so nice to finally meet you. You’re as pretty as I imagined.” Coral tried again, taunting me. I couldn’t stomach the idea of touching her hand so instead— I said, “we’ve actually met before. Remember?”

“The issue is that it’s not currently curable. We’re raising money for more research into the matter.” That sounded reasonable... maybe. She softens a bit and smiles. I hear Delphnie whispering her chant below her mask. I just need to hold her here for a few more seconds, then I can use the spray bottle. “Let me go get my purse,” Coraline says.
