He gave my hips a final squeeze and left me on the kitchen island, breathless, flustered, and wondering what the hell I had just gotten myself into. FLORESCENT LIGHT bulbs glimmered and lit up the café. Couches and Sofas were arranged and placed around round topped tables, throw pillows were neatly arranged on the chairs, and blankets were neatly folded on the arms of the chairs. Fragile looking white lilies were placed in water jars as a form of decoration for the tables. Café Monaco, with it's big space, great settings, wonderful customer service, and mind numbingly delicious pastry, was the hottest spot in Manhattan. It sat in the heart of Manhattan, and was owned by a French couple.

After the long day at work, I needed this little escape. I found a quiet corner table by the window at Crescent Moon Café, sinking into the plush armchair with a contented sigh. The café buzzed with the gentle hum of evening conversations, laptops clicking, and the occasional hiss of the espresso machine. Perfect white noise to decompress.

“Then where should I get it from, sir?” I rested my chin on my hand, watching her like a puzzle I was trying to solve. “There’s a café three blocks from here — ‘Café D’Amore.’ You’ll find it near the fountain. You’ll walk past the bakery, cross the small bookshop on the right, take a left turn where the street narrows, and then… order a double espresso with two cubes of brown sugar, no cream.” She blinked. “That’s… quite a walk.”

“I’ll grab something from the café down the path. Croissants?” “Yes,” Davina said instantly. “And a coffee that tastes like dessert. None of your bitter, grown-up stuff.” Bethany nodded. “One hazelnut latte, please.” I started toward the path, hands in my pockets, telling myself this was normal. Just a walk to get pastries. Just a minute alone in the sunlight. The café was a glass-fronted corner tucked into an old stone building, with wrought-iron chairs out front and the lake framed perfectly in its windows. The moment I stepped inside, the smell hit—fresh espresso, butter, and sugar, with a faint citrus from somewhere in the back.

“Cafe?” They grin, almost sitting up in unison. “Cafe it is.” We decide on a nearby cafe, known for its strong coffee and its fluffy, cloudlike croissants. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, a gentle hum of chatter filling the air. We settle into a table in the window after grabbing our coffee and pastries, and I’m grateful for the easy conversation, for the warmth of the sun, and for the laughter that temporarily makes me forget about last night’s awkward kiss with Karl.

Sarah and I both laugh, then she gives me a knowing look before entering what I assume to be Rita’s room with my peace offering coffee. “A black and white mocha for the lady.” I said, offering the warm drink to my Cassie. All in all it looked a perfect place to hang out.

“Well so far you have been two for two Leo. I’m game.” Leo smiled and spoke something to the driver. Not long afterwards the taxi pulled up to a charming café called Au Vieux Paris d’Arcole. It was a white building with a nice splash of teal on its sign and window frames, purple tables and chairs out front made a pretty contrast. White Christmas lights were strung along the front of it complete with fake snow and a large manger scene depicting the well known story of Jesus’s Birth. “In spring and summer, vines grow all up the front of it,” said Leo, “they say it’s the prettiest café in the city.”

Liora’s POV A small bell chimed above us and warm air immediately surrounded me, carrying the rich scent of freshly ground coffee, baked pastries, and something sweet that I couldn't identify as we stepped into the cafe. I stopped and my eyes widened. "Wow." I slowly turned my head, taking everything in. The coffee shop was beautiful. More like Fancy. The interior had a sophisticated but comfortable appearance. There were dark wooden tables scattered around the room, elegant hanging lights above them, large windows allowing sunlight to spill inside, and shelves lined with different types of coffee beans and expensive-looking equipment.
