The urge to scream clawed at me, instead I reached for my phone. There was only one person I could call. The phone rang twice before Maya picked up. “Sussay,” her voice came through. “Are you alright?” “No, Maya,” I whispered, barely holding tears. “I’m anything but good. “Calm down, Sussay,” she said softly. “What's wrong?” “He was there… he was… he's the CEO.” “Who was where?” “The man from that night, Maya,” I said, calmer. “He was at my interview.”

Dane’s POV A call to my private number startled me, even though I was already awake. I reached for my phone and put it to my ear, not bothering to check who the hell was calling because whoever could find that number, was definitely not a small fry. “I'm sure you know I know now?” I paused in my head. Know what? And who the hell is this? That's when I checked the true caller. “Michelle Hart.” No way in hell. I nodded my head, even though she couldn't see me.

Cecelia was only focusing on Cyrus’ WeChat Moments, so she did not notice anything wrong with him. William purposely faked a cough to get her attention, but even so, she still ignored him. WeChat, huh? Alright! William did not say anything throughout the entire journey. Suddenly, he said to Cecelia, “Give me your phone.” “Ah?” Cecelia blinked. “What for? Where’s yours?” “It ran out of battery.” William’s expression was indifferent. “The president wants me to call a client at 3 o’clock.” Cecelia could not deny this request, so she handed her phone him.

“Says the girl who’s been MIA for years! You never call, never text—what if some foreign guy had run off with you? We wouldn’t even know!” His voice was so loud that William moved the phone away from his ear with a sigh. “If you two want to catch up, call each other later.” And with that, he hung up. Still holding his phone, William opened Layla’s chat thread and typed: “Did you get home safe?” He stared at it for a second. After a long pause, he deleted the message. Instead, he slipped the phone back into his pocket, leaned against the headrest, and closed his eyes. His expression was unreadable, his whole body radiating an unapproachable chill.

Frustratedly William’s chest rumbled with a growl as he roughly snatched the phone and looked at who could be calling him. To his surprise it was a number he had never seen before. Picking the call with furrowed brows, he spoke into the receiver. “Who is this?” William asked, before he heard a voice that was decidedly strange and malicious sounding. “Why, William, it’s me. Damon Erikson,” The posh British lilt was just as surprising, but William recovered quickly. “I see,” he replied, gazing around him to be sure there weren’t any watchers. “What does the leader of the Hunters want from me?”

"Did someone call you before me? He asked him instead. "No!" William exclaimed dryly, "You're the first one who called me today. Why? What's going on?" Adam didn't answer. He was busy reasoning about what had happened. If William hadn't received any calls, it meant that someone was keeping an eye on him at that moment. Wiliam was just another pawn in the game. And Adam was the king to checkmate. "William, I have to close. I'm afraid they're listening to this conversation." He stated icily before cutting the call short.

His mind refused to let go of either woman. "I’m losing my mind, thinking about that Serpentine girl!" William muttered under his breath. "No, this isn’t about attraction! And it’s not because I haven’t gotten over Selena!" Raking a hand through his hair again, William exhaled sharply and turned back toward the sprawling streets below. The city buzzes in a constant hum, like his mind is constantly working. Without another thought, he reached for the phone resting on the table nearby. He called his trusted contact with slightly squinted eyes.

He mustered up his courage and answered it, "Hello!" Callum sounded a little tensed as if he was trying his best to conceal something. "William, are you free tonight?" "Yes," William replied. Callum was an observant person and felt that William was not being his usual self. He frowned and said, "Well, I would want to treat you to dinner tonight. I intend to have some private time with you only." "No problem!" William tried to reply as brief as he could. "Alright, see you tonight!" William threw his phone aside after hanging up the phone call. He sighed and said, "Gentlemen, what are your point of view of him inviting me to dinner tonight?"
