Pamela, my classmate, asked me. They glared at my phone. Why do I even feel nervous when they don't even know that this is Gage Stockholm who's calling me? Shit, just stay calm Tate. Don't act weird, they know you sat next to Gage and Peter at the train a while ago. Gage calling... Damn it. I answered his call and placed my phone next to my ear. They began to look away and started gushing about Gage Stockholm and Peter Payton again. "Why did you cancel my call a while ago?" Gage asks.

The storm had cleared by morning, leaving the estate wrapped in silver mist. Lily woke to the soft rustle of sheets beside her and the muted sound of William’s low voice on a phone call in the next room. She sat up, tucking the blanket around herself, and listened. “…I don’t care how expensive the shipment is,” William said, voice edged like glass. “If Leonard’s name is attached, I want the contract shredded and the men who signed it in front of me. Understood?” A pause, then the click of the call ending.

" Sure, I need to make a call. " I can't believe Mini's plan has worked. I messaged Vicky. It's his responsibility next. I turn to stride back in her room. She is already walking toward me, " I'm not getting my phone. I need to tell this to Mini. If she'll be at our side it'd be easy to persuade my mother. " I forward my hand with my phone. She lit the screen. Abruptly, she stops when she glances at the wallpaper, " Can you dial her number? " She asks.

"We're all excited you found your mate at last." He reached into his pocket and brought out a small piece of paper. "Both mine and Empusa's numbers are on this," he said, holding the paper out to William. "If you need anything, don't hesitate to call. Allies are always good to have." William took the paper from him with a nod of agreement. Then he considered the strangeness of the two of them working together; especially if they expected a war between the species to begin again. When he thought about it, he realized they'd always been together when he saw them; as far back as he could remember. "How does a wolf and a vampire remain friendly with this going on?" he asked.

"I'm assuming you're not the chef." "God, no. I’m the man who makes sure the King looks like a King," he said, reaching out to flick a stray hair from my shoulder with a gloved hand. Elena I stared at my phone, my heart pounding like a drum in my chest. Mom was on the other end, chatting like it was no big deal. We were supposed to be talking about brunch plans, but then she said it. "Oh, by the way, honey, Daniel's coming to the wedding weekend at the mountain lodge. Just a courtesy invite, you know, to keep things nice after all this time." I almost dropped the phone. "Daniel? Like, my Daniel? Mom, are you serious?" My voice came out shaky, even though I tried to sound normal.

"Although I've done you wrong, you still have to give me a chance to right my wrongs, Daphne! But you refused to give me a chance to do that! Aren't you being cruel right now?" I halted in my tracks. Then, I turned around to glare at William coldly. "You're the cruel one." I didn't hesitate to turn on my heel and leave. William could only sit where he was, his body already stiff. For a moment, he seemed rather lost, as though he had lost a part of him. A long time later, he dug out his phone and called his assistant. "I want you to investigate the incident behind Daphne's miscarriage." After ending the call, William hunched over gloomily. The corners of his eyes were starting to redden.

I felt used , the words he told me that day hurt me , I was hurt , he was the least person that I expected it from . Sending her an email wouldn't help, it would only give her too much time to come up with an answer. I stopped myself, however, and called William instead. "William," I said when the call connected. "I have finally done what you suggested." Relief washed over me, a wave of tension releasing with each word. William's chuckle sent a shiver down my spine, despite its usual warmth. "Hey man, how are you?" he asked, his voice laced with a hint of interest. I leaned back in my chair, a slow, wide grin spreading across my face. "Great, actually," I purred, the word dripping out.

“What if I do?” William looked at her but she looked away. What was he saying? After all that he did to her… how could he say those words that might stir her heart once more? Was he not proposing to that girl when she saw them? “Then, I am sorry to tell you this: she won’t want you back,” Callum smirked. “Having someone like me by her side for the past week, do you think she would even think about you?” “You’re lying,” William said through gritted teeth. “Why would she want a man like you?”
